Perhaps similar to a debate on another thread for us social golfers, where do people fall on the subject of manufactured tee groupings in the pro game?
It is nothing new, but in these unchartered times it may well be ramping up some notches.

Is it ultimately entertainment, with a commercial angle - the 'marquee groups' are what many fans want, tv and sponsors. So do it.

Or should it represent the bastion of fair and open competitio - if a 'name' is randomly drawn early, late, or with lowly ranked players - that is just how it should be.

Professional Golf is an entertainment business! So absolutely appropriate to have 'marquee' groupings to maximise both viewer numbers and income! Random draws are for the likes of qualifying or for amateur events, where commercial consideration is minimal.

Watching Tiger at Riviera.....
He's still limping noticeably
I think Riviera is relatively flat but even so I think he may struggle bearing in mind he played the Pro/Am yesterday.
5 rounds walking on the bounce....we'll see....literally because they're showing every shot.

I did notice he seems able to crouch down much lower into his haunches than he was last year at the open and the masters where he just literally bent over a bit to read the greens.

180mph ball speed with the driver still - the guys a beast.
