Some of you may have set goals already, some may be just starting to now that the weather is starting to improve. I thought it would be good to share and tick off those that are set and accomplished.

I only took up the game at the start of last year but ended up putting the clubs away quite soon after due to the birth of the little one in August. Therefore, mine are relatively simple and no doubt well below players of your capabilities (all 18 holes):

Shoot sub-120 round
Shoot sub-110 round
Shoot sub-100 round
Hit three pars in one round
Sink a birdie putt
Play four new courses

In the few rounds I played last year I had a best of 128, hit a maximum of one par in a single round and never sunk a birdie. I only managed to play one course.

I will join you in the low expectation camp!

Shoot sub 100 round (Already got a sub 50 9-hole this year)...
Get golfshake pseudo handicap to below 28
Maybe then get it below 20
Sink a birdie putt
Have a whole round with no topped shots
Have a whole round with no thinned chips

Mine is simply to get my handicap down to 15.

For context, I was off 20 a few years ago, stopped my membership around 3 years ago, but am joining back at my club next month, so will have to submit the 3 scores and start again.

I'll go with this as well, break 100 will do for me:(

I figured the Mizuno Your Game comp required a bold gesture, so I put down that my goal this season is to shoot a level par 72 in a comp. Previous best 77.

Why not be bold?

Cat 1 is my aim. That is it. Obviously means winning a few competitions en route

I want to try and get to 15 handicap - not sure how realistic this is as have only just joined a club this year so don't have anything official yet. Last year I was off 20 on golf shake and I was shooting low 90's consistently with a best score or 89.

I would be happy if I could be shooting mid 80's at the end of this year but not sure how easy it is to actually lower your handicap once you have been given one.

Hopefully get my driver carrying 250 consistently as well. 220 carry is good for me at the moment but I spin the ball way too high.

Best way to play four new courses is to let folk on here know where you live and you may get a few invites. That would be one ticked off.
if you wanna hit three pars focus on your par threes, it may help with your birdie as well.
to go from 128 to sub 100 is massive and I mean massive. Hope you get it but DO NOT BE DISAPPOINTED TO SHOOT SUB 110.
If I have to give advice, 1, course mangage, eg a par four with two shot playing off 28 gives you two shots. Use them. The par four is now a par six. Drive 150 yd second shot of 120 turns a 400 yd hole after two shots into a 130 yd par four.
Lastly I asked last year on here re advice on reducing my scoring, answer short game, short game, and finally short game. It is the correct answer.

All the best Tash.

Having been a stranger to both the club golf scene and the golf monthly forum for some years, I feel this may be a good chance to get back into it, so here

Having just joined a new club I have already completed my first marked card which was 10 over. Im hoping my next two will be no higher. So first goal is

1)Obtain or acheive single figure handicap
2) shoot 5 over gross or better
3) 4 birdies a round. (Best is 3)
4) Take some more lessons.

I really want to increase my swing speed this year and gain some yards but thats a whole different thread.

Same as last year and every year since I started playing again:
1) Play as much as possible.
2) Enjoy myself.
3) Let scores, handicaps and results take care of themselves.

Learn to hit my irons properly as they've gone t1ts up massively lately. Next goal is break 80 (nearly done it numerous times) and if I can get my irons working it should be within reach.

Cheers for the advice, appreciate it.

My last round last summer was 128 but that really should have been <120 - I had a total meltdown over the last three holes. Hopefully that means the target is reachable. We'll see...

I'm going with this too this year, was too focussed on trying to get my handicap down last year and didn't happen as I wanted. Was always thinking of what score I needed to shoot before I'd even hit a ball.
