I've had news from Royal Ascot that they can accommodate the 2010 GM Spring Meet (or whatever other name you want it to go under) on Friday May 28th thereby giving a suitable gap for all of those lucky enough to be going to Castle Stuart to book some leave or replenish the kitty

The price will be £60 as per last year (£56 is the society rate + £4 per head towards prizes) and the day will consist of bacon butties and coffee on arrival, 18 holes of golf and a two course dinner and prizes afterwards.

Hopefully the weather will be much better by then and the course will be coming into full summer glory. I know its a long way off and hard for people to make definite plans especially those going to Scotland but it would help if people could at least register an interest so I can let the club know if we want this date

We've already had a huge debate on the name of this event, the fact that its held down south etc

so it'll make my life at least a lot easier if people would only register a yes or no.

Count me in Homer

Although I would need a fairly early start and may have to miss part of dinner

But then as im looking to shed a few pounds of weight is possibly no bad thing

I won't be able to travel I am afraid.Too much going on golf wise.

Quick question on the cost....£56 is hardly a great deal unless I am missing something here as it is £40 a round if I turned up myself and circa £16 for bacon rolls, coffee and 2 course meal....they dont exactly do a 'book a party and we'll give you a great deal' do they?
Maybe different to up here where we need visitors income possibly?

Good luck with the day!

I fairness to Royal Ascot, £16 for the food is on the slightly on the cheapside for down south for what they are offering....

You would think they would do something on the green fee for the mention in GM and on here.....

539 miles to Machrahanish in March is actually more appealing at the moment than Royal Ascot (from where I could actually walk/stagger home afterwards)

Is the date set in stone Homer?

I'd love to play but don't know if I could get away with it with the GM vs Golf Magic on the next 2 days as well.

OK we seem to have a problem with a clash of dates with Forest Pines. The club have also offered a midweek date on June 2nd or 9th. How does the 9th sound as an alternative. The only problem I can see is for those coming from further afield. Please let me know if you can do the either the 28th May or 9th June, either both or one or other.

Cheers for your patience guys. Otherwise I'll look at a date perhaps in July (even though we'll still be playing for the GM Spring Meet Shield!) but I've a feeling dates are pretty fully booked most Fridays through the summer after Royal Ascot week
