Quite a lot of plastics absorb water to a greater or lesser extent. I guess it is this that is the problem, along with mixing up the age of the ball. If you have a box of balls in the cupboard, they will be consistent within the box, as they have all been stored the same, and be the same age. Buy a bag of lake balls, some will be newer than others, and some will have been immersed for longer too. There is no way they will perform coonsistently.

Hence why we're not suposed to wear our contact lenses in the shower or swiming pool as the plastic absobs the water.

Sounds as if American golf have a good offer on, though really not sure the saving is worth the fuel for me to drive all the way to Not'num.
