Yeah got the flyer through the post this week and my first thought was "about normal prices them!" lol, but thats good on the Srixon front, just bought 50 pearl AD333 balls for winter for £20, most end up in the shag bag but I might pop down to AG this weekend to pick up some new for the summer.

Thanks for the heads up.

Don't think he will mate, all the pros love the V1, I prefer the px3.

Wilson staff do make some big claims about what he uses, they reckon he was using the Ci7 irons the start of last season, however, when the camera zoomed in on his bag he still had his Pi5 in play.

Thanks to E-bay and an itchy "buy now" finger I have amassed 4 dozen "Noodle Plus" and 3 dozen "Srixon Soft Feel" at an average price of £10.00 per dozen.
Add that to the two dozen "Titleiest NXT Tour" and dozen "Nike SFT2's" that I already had and there should be enough to last me a few rounds.
Do golf balls go off????

Well I have had my eye on a new driver as the Cleveland is a draw bias and now I have ironed a flaw in my swing (anyone in Berks/Surrey should try Grant Sayer at Maidenehead Golf Centre - top coach) which means I am starting to overcook the right to left a bit. Also I am going to try a slightly lower loft and want to look at different shaft options. Don't like the R7 limited edition (sits ugly to my eye) but the Tour Burner looks good. I have persuaded my sweet grey haired mother to make a contribution (I'm still after a 100% contribution but negotiations are ongoing) so I'm going to see whats there and have a bit of fun.

If I don't like or can't hit the drivers I'm going to go back to my 11 degree neutral Cally Big Bertha and wait for the big manufacturers to have their demo days next year and see what is on offer and then think about going for a c/f session.

Golf balls don't go off, but you do need to store them sensibly, ie: not in the garage. Extremes of temperature won't help. a bit like lake balls really.

I was wondering about lake balls, given that balls are waterproof how much would it damage the ball if in water? We should run a test with a forum member.

I was under the impression that golf balls that were immersed in water did go off as the water breaks down through the outer coating which is why you never seem to get the same performance with a lake ball as a normal one. Maybe one of the forum boffins will be able to concur and give an explanation

From an earlier post:

Balls that had spent 8 days in water produced drives six yards less than the benchmark ball. Balls that had spent 3 months submerged in water travelled 12 yards less, and balls kept in water for 6 months went 15 yards less

Quite a lot of plastics absorb water to a greater or lesser extent. I guess it is this that is the problem, along with mixing up the age of the ball. If you have a box of balls in the cupboard, they will be consistent within the box, as they have all been stored the same, and be the same age. Buy a bag of lake balls, some will be newer than others, and some will have been immersed for longer too. There is no way they will perform coonsistently.
