With the weather starting to get better (ish) i'm getting my gear ready for the year and looking at my ball situation. I currently play Yellow lake balls (not a great golfer but get by) and looking to stay with yellow but want to try something softer than the hard distance balls you get for the low price I pay.

Anyway, noticed the Inesis 500 soft and reviews seem pretty good and for £9.99 a dozen price is good for a 60 compression yellow ball (gloss or Matte). I'm torn however between trying these or looking at the Wilson DX2 optix that I can get for about £12.99 but concerned the 29 compression may be too low.
Any experience in either of these balls?
Tried the srixon soft feel but wasn't bowled over by them and as a cheapskate £20 or so a dozen doesn't scream "Buy Me".

Try both and decide what YOU prefer the feel of.

I have used a couple of Wilson DUO balls in the past and actually quite liked them. Certainly a better feel and performance compared to the Chrome Soft for me and more durable.

DX2 Optix is a decent ball, was using them last winter with no issues. Haven't really used them this winter because the conditions have been pretty decent for the most part so stuck with my summer flavours.

At that price like Jacko_G says try both. I've tried the Inesis Tour 900 ball and have to saynits superb value and im a big fan

Did you find the fairly low compression an issue at all in regards to distance, ball flight etc.?

Unless you are swinging your driver at 110mph+ then I wouldn't worry about the compression of a ball for performance, it's just all about feel. My brother (who plays off 6) actually used the Wilson DX2 for a few months as he loved the feel of the soft ball. I always found it strange that someone that was on the verge of being a Cat 1 player was playing a non urethane ball.

I am a regular user of both the DX2 Optix and the Inesis 900. I really like both. I love the soft feel of the DX2 and the Tour 900 are great value.

I use the Dx2 optics in the winter and in the summer swap to the White DX2 or the 900 Tour.

If I am using a premium ball it's the TP5 but it doesn't seem to make any difference in my scoring so this summer I am sticking with the DX2 or Tour 900.

I would recommended trying both

Another fan of the inesis tour here. Cant speak for the 500 but as a brand they seem to know what they are doing. As others have said - for the price just try them both.

You should, stunning course. What's your home track?

La Finca is about 3.5kms away, although we spend more time up at Vistabella which is also about 10 minutes away - the lad goes to the academy up there and the course is decent now it has been extended.
I've played Las Ramblas, and Villamartin, Alenda, and Font Del Llop so far, plus the two above. All of them good although Las Ramblas could beb brutal if you were having a bad day.

La Finca is great, played it many times. Not played it since they swapped the 9's over. Go try Alicante, that is a special course, as is Las Colinas, simply stunning there.

Going to Alicante with the golf society in about a month, one I'm looking forward to. I should have actually played La Finca on Wednesday but I've got so much work on here at the moment I'm having to give the midweek golf a swerve for a few weeks - but it's a fantastic course.
We were up at Las Colinas on the practice ground a few weeks back, course was quiet to be fair but it looked amaing (what we could see of it).

Looking at decent Yellow golf balls and brand new prices can be higher than white. Seems i can pick up Titleist DT Trusoft yellow for £11.99 a dozen in Pearl Grade. 50p more than the inesis (£1.49 delivery to Asda) and cheaper than the DX2.
I like Titleist but should I buy new and go with the DX2's?
Also, what are peoples experiences with matte balls durability wise?

I bought a box of Inesis Tour 900 but I don't really like them. Lost loads of distance and they spin too much if anything. Have heard good things about the Soft 500 though. At a tenner they're probably cheap enough to be worth trying.

Don't get the DX2 Optix in yellow, they are awful. The matte finish becomes dull really quickly, and far from standing out they actually start blending in with the rough, which I'm sure you'll agree is flipping useless.

Life is odd, I found a lot more distance with the Tour 900 over everything i used last summer, not sure why. Winter time i use the DX2 optic, I love the yellow or red, my son the red or orange, blue sucks.

It is always difficult asking for opinions as different things work for different people.

Orikoru and I both have totally opposite opinions on the same ball yet neither of us are wrong for us, for you, who the hell knows. I mean I hate chromesofts feel like pebbles off the putter only ball worse is the warbird they feel like iron balls.
