20.8 to 9.7 in a year. Well done me.

Well done Phil thats an amazing acheivement so far:thup:

There were plenty signs that you could play off a lot lower handicap that day we played at Bangor with Brendy and it seems your hard work has so far paid off so. Keep it up and youll soon be off a few lower as well.:)

well done!, i am hoping for the same improvement this year haha, i was just wondering did you have lessons in this time? how often was you playing/ practising? cheers.

Awesome achievement. Hoping (optimistically!!!!!) for something similar for me this year! (Not holding my breath!)

No hold it az, go on i double dare you!

Re the OP, well done that man, I'd be ibterested in hearing about your weekly practice routine, how many times a week you played and how many lessons through the year?

Well done first of all that is very good. I dont mean to jump on your thread but I have gone from 19.4 down to 12.8 and awaiting a cut in the last few months. Just wanted to ask some questions see if it was similar to myself. What I noticed is that I just accepted what I had in my game and used it to my advantage, are you still working on anything or trying to hit a different shot shape?

This was the big turning point for me in that I just accepted I hit a natural fade, I dont feel any better than I was 12 months ago but due to accepting my game I have just got the consistency going, I know what pins I can attack and ones that I cant. My mates who I play with have started saying I am getting to good for them but I dont feel its the case its just they play silly shots they cant do and then get the bigger scores, I keep telling them this but they dont listen.

I am looking forward to the next 6 months or so as I feel I can keep coming down how ever I am ready to hit the wall and then fight through it again, I want to keep enjoying this game and not make it a chore of practice practice practice, so my ultimate aim is to enjoy it and play to what I have. Do you have any aims of where you want to get to and when by?

Well played sir. I'm confident that if my short game click I'll get back to 12 and maybe lower and then can look at moving on from there. To be honest the quality of my ball striking since December is much improved and I just need to get a round constructed and I'm going to post a silly score. Not sure I'd ever be capable of such a big drop in one season though

Oh well done! I'm glad to see someone who advocates the 'dont think about it' way of playing coupled with sensible course management

best of luck with your goals!! ;)

yeah ive no ambition of becoming a pro nor a know it all. if no real interest in how it works or why but i think ive a half decent feel for what has been working, and some great direction from mates.

as for what i practice or how much. not alot really, play every saturday morning and play probably 9holes a week in the summer aswell, some months i get alot more some months alot less. sometimes nip to a the range in the evening with my mate.

often have a quick putt at the odd lunchtime too.

thats about it, nothing structured, i see no point in practicing if im not in the mood.

Phil

Just noticed this, well done Phil, playing places like Kirkistown will also get you honing in your yardage control ever better. Onwards and erm...downwards :D
