I know exactly what you mean about that L5V, I was covetting it at the range last night and am seriously tempted.
The cobra-rep has said he will get one to my preferred spec for me to play a few rounds with if I like but the problem with that is, if i like it, I will want to buy it and the mrs will de-knacker me if I were to do that at this precise moment.
I know what you mean, I just ordered the DWS which she knows about but knows nothing of the FP 4 iron and 4 mizuno gloves ordered as well
The L5V didnt get a great raving in GM this month, but I guess it was in with some bigger boys. If you get custom fitted with the right shaft is that at extra cost?
They shouldnt charge you any extra for the C/F if you buy the club and take one of the stock-shaft options which to be honest, there will be something for everyone.
I will probably have a whack with a demo one but just out of curiousity as I am knocking my D1 pretty sweet at the moment.
Thinking about the L5V more the thing I dont like is the adjustable weight in the back, I think it is detrimental to the aesthetics of the club but hey, nothings perfect I suppose.
I dont see how them weights on drivers do much ! if your swing is shite then your F***&^ anyway its way to gimmicky still for me ! Other then that That driver looks nice but i still prefer mine !
Why does a Cobra feel better than a Titlesit 755, a forged titleist is a good as it gets 'feel' wise?
The 5.5 rifle is like a DG300 in stiff, I found the 5.5's a bit lifeless to be honest.
Cobra is just a poor man's titleist anyway.
If you accept that a forged blade doesn't go as far as a cast cavity-back, I think you can play both, it is not a lot easier to hit a cavity back than a blade, you still have to put a decent swing on it.
The armies of high handicappers buying and playing Callaway and Ping overside clubs still generally hit it poorly, it just doesn't sting as much in the fingers with a cavity back so they think they're hitting it better when in fact they're not really.
Stick with the 755's and put the Cobra money towards green fees. If you're staying at Princes the 755's will serve you as good as anything.
You may well get a surprise if you ask your pro what it would cost to reshaft a full set of irons.
But, c'mon, you really want these new shiny bats dont you !
Take your time and get what is right for you. You are at a stage where you have the potential to develop so get the right tools and stick with them and see how things go. The Hcap should drop if you can play like you have described recently.
Med, a we bit of advice do not buy a set of irons unless you get the chance to hit them off the grass, the range mats do not give you a true reflection of how you will be able to hit them on the course.
Reshafting irons will be about 30 per club, with another 5 for the grip. Buying new will be about 65 per club. You can't put the newness back on old clubs though.
The pro cbs are very similar to my 695cbs i think they are fantastic i wont be changingtill the grooves are worn out, both the cobra and mine are easy to hit just will lose a bit of distance if you miss the centre of the face not much though,
When i got my irons a year or so ago the 755s were what i fancied but no matter what shaft was in them they launched a bit too high,
I say go for them get used to them and you will never look back
