1st Tee Jitters

I played in my very 1st comp on Sunday.

I let the lower handicap player go 1st, he was off 5 or 6. He pushed his shot way right. That was my nerves settled, I then got an unlucky bounce from the edge of the fairway that took me straight into a ditch. Gutted!!!!

Hit a horrid toppy hook thing about 120 yards into the longish rough in the medal yesterday. Recovered to hit the green for two and then three putted. I do get nervous. I'm a worrier by nature and so even if I've got a great tempo on the warm up I'll always be worried about my swing not being good enough. It all goes once I hit the first decent one of the day (hopefully by the 2nd tee).

t.b.h. I think the 1st at yours is a scary prospect for anybody. That's a hole I'd love to play regularly to work out strategies.

My first is killing me at the moment as I keep slicing it OB.
I don't worry about it on the tee, go through some lovely smooth practice swings, but then when the ball's there I make an awful "armsy" swing with no body turn and the BIG fade comes in, there's nothing worse than starting your round two shots gone and the ball is still sitting on the tee.

It could be worse, it could be in front of 40+ people at Blackmoor. :D

Had them yesterday, first ever comp, a nice par 4.
Hit the drive a little left, into the semi rough, a nice 8I to the waters edge, chip in, 2 putt, bogey, happy.
Hole 2, Par 3, hit it OK, bounced off the wooden bridge, into the water, but still managed another bogie.
Hole 3, blocked drive left, rough, rough, rough, 7 ok, forget it.
Hole 4, par 4, bad block left, hit provisional, really bad block left, look for ball, gone, back to tee, top ball to rough, hit out of rough into the ditch, disaster a Kevin Na14.
The all things settle, 4 pars, 4 Bogies and 2 double bogies.
Kept going, was a small bit annoyed, but not to worry.

The real problem was on Saturday evening I shot a 43 on the front 9.
The blue tees make the course completely different. I need to really work on my swing and get it more consistent and more rhythm and hope a few extra yards will appear.
Still it was a lovely day.
An added bonus was I played with 1 of my old school pals I had not seen in over 10 years.
