I think you should be aware that golfers in general DO NOT enjoy listening to detailed accounts of another's round.

shouldn't we add, 'unless they belong to a forum which is meant for just that'.
Don't we come here to share the ups and downs - in all their minutely tedious glory (rather than boring the pants off other friends and family?)

Golf is fascinating. I love reading about golf. I've read the biographies/autobiographies of Nicklaus, Palmer, Player, Faldo..... I could go on. I'm just not interested in the feats of the average golfer. Maybe a hole in one or a club championship success. Imagine if we all posted here every time we won a medal or had a good round? I know I'll get stick for this from the other posters but...

If I had a brilliant round everytime I played I would be bored to tell it as it would be the norm but I think people in general only share their success/misery rounds because it is (for me anyway) not the norm (I usually play a very average game) and I probably won't do it again for a while so when it does happen for good or bad, I share and find the support and comments of fellow forumer's is very much welcome and appreciated, after all isn't this what a community is all about.
If you are not interested in the feats of average golfers then maybe, just maybe this forum is not for you.

Glad YOU had a good round, am sure your partner is/was equally bragging somewhere else about their round!

Yes shanker thats correct, What a good memory you have, almost as good as mine, as it was 7 years ago when I was in the Marines. Not like am gonna copy suit and do it next time i cant get served in the 19th. By the way whats it like being a model citezen never putting a foot out of line. Actually I dont want to know I dont think people really like to listen to people going on in detail about knitting class.

It was you who raised the matter of me sticking the ''boot in''. Surely I have a right to reply? I accept that this happened in your youth and you wouldn't do it at Wentworth now. I don't consider myself a ''model citizen'' and have done things I wouldn't discuss on a public forum.

Have to say I still disagree with shanker (at least up to a point). Whilst I wouldn't advocate this becoming a "clubhouse bore" forum where everyone dissects each round shot by shot, I do think there are times like these where Barb has played over and above her normal standards where we should be allowed to express our delight and bask in the glory of how it was achieved.

As I've already said Barb doesn't normally self promote and is normally on here with tales of woe or with words of encouragement and support for others whose dreams were shattered with a shiny Titleist lost in the rough or sailin OB. Her posts are witty and funny and like most other posters on here I'd have no objection to reading their tales of daring risks taken and monstrous putts sunk.

I have no objection at all to you disagreeing with my comments. The word ''forum'' comes from the Latin for a place where people spoke freely and deals were done. I just feel that we all have the same right here to express our opinions here and that includes me and you.
I feel that the GM forum has posters who are witty, show us great photos and tell great stories about the best game there is. I certainly have nothing against any of the people who post here but do feel that.......

I hear exactly what you are saying and as I said up to a point I concur 100%. If we all came on and wrote "I took my 7 iron on the 2nd from 142 yards and hit it to 25 foot but missed the putt but on the 3rd......" it would get pretty boring (and I'd be writing use an 8 you idiot!!!)

In Barb's case it was just great to see some light at the end of what has been a pretty dark golfing tunnel and so I think we can let the 1st person writing slip.

I actually think that you post some great stuff on here and have as much right to voice your opinions as the next man. Not sure your original post was quite in the right tone but hey I'm often slated for the way I right on here.

Lets call it quits and get on with enjoying the weird and wacky world of the GM forum
