Hi all
Today I played in our 1st mixed pairs competition of the year, weather was good (rain held off)
Considering I didn't have much of a warm up and no practice before hand, I'm happy. ;)
Could this be the start in my quest for a handicap reduction? I hope so (my aim is to get to 25 by the end of summer) :)
Hope everyone else had as good a day as I

You say it was a mixed pairs yet go on to brag about the points YOU scored! Gross 95!
You are a serious golf bore!

Well, I'm sorry I bore you Shanker, the comp was won by myself AND my partner (who played well also).
At the end of the day it is my handicap (on my merits) that will be cut not my partners so please excuse me if I want to feel chuffed with myself and celebrate.

Shanker

A tad OTT. I thought this was a communial forum where we celebrate with our fellow members when they do well and give them a cyber group hug when things go awry. I know from reading Barb's threads she has not had a great time of it golfing wise recently and so I think we should celebrate her success. Go Barb!!!!

Barb - count me in on the celebration - fab performance. Reckon you and Atticus are top dogs this week.
You have put my 42 of yesterday in the shade - and in a comp!
Wish me luck in next week's club singles first round - and possible monthly Stableford too. Really want to lose the raise I had last month. (though will try not to want it too much - my putting crumbles under pressure!)

Wow! well done Barb! I'm genuinely pleased for you. i will try iand draw some insperation from you for my stableford tomorrow, I'm really strugling to play my game when it matters.
Well done!

I'll be rooting for you, you can count on that and at some point we'll have to get together and have a game.
42 is still an incredible score, you should be proud

Thanks Timberbonce
Just try and relax and enjoy it, when you're relaxed it makes all the difference (easier said than done, I know) and play you're own game. Good luck tomorrow and let us know how you get on :)

Shanker, might you want to reconsider and perhaps say you were a bit strong?

Well done Barb but in his defence you could read it as me me me.

Whatever anyones feelings, nobody can take away what a top round of Golf that was. Long may it continue.

Sorry to have caused offence, it certainly wasn't my intention. However, reading Barb's account of her round took me back to the days when we had to listen to the clubhouse bore droning on about his round. These days the internet means that you don't even have to have met the droner to be subjected to a blow by blow account of his latest triumph on the links.
My apologies Barb for any offence but I think you should be aware that golfers in general DO NOT enjoy listening to detailed accounts of another's round.

oh I dunno. I quite like it when someone has a round of note (be that good or bad) and derives a bit of catharsis from effectively blogging it here. I think it's one of the strengths of the site that we occasionally share our trumphs and tragedies as well as just talk about kit, swing mechanics, comps. etc.

It is a golf forum after all.

Well done Barb.
