Re: Skycaddie - Try igolf Caddie 2
I bought one of these on Internet from the states (Proto Golf). Cost £113.50 with free postage.
I think you can get this in the UK but is more expensive.
Reason I bought this is cos it seems to be the only one that allows you to map courses yourself. This...
My recommendation is the Cleveland Hi-bore.
Long but also forgiving.
The new xls looks great - see the reviews in this months golf monthly.
The shaft is the most important component so when you've picked your driver, make sure the shaft suits your swing.
Golf is fairly important to me as I dont play any other sport now.
I would try very hard not to give up my membership.
If I were losing 20% of my income I would either get a temporary part time job to supplement it or cut back in other areas that dont affect the mrs too much.
Good luck anyway
Personally I have nothing against others using GPS as its only the same as a caddy telling a pro what distance to hit.
In fact a caddy is more accurate cos they know exactly how far the pin is on the green.
I think it would be fun to have one even if only for practising and use on strange...
Interesting exercise, but stopped after a few rounds. Not sure why you would want it on the practice ground...
I would use it out on my home course when practising and also for playing other courses but not in competition. Thought it would be useful on the practice ground for checking...
I know GPS systems have been discussed before but I am thinking of getting one for practice only.
For that reason I wonder if any of you know if you can use them on the practice ground ie off the main course. From what i've read you can only use them on mapped out courses.
Also any...
Hello Mowgli
There are three good members courses near your base.
Chilwell Manor
Beeston Fields
Wollaton Park.
Chilwell is a very flat course and tends to be closed alot during bad weather as it holds the water. I alway find it a friendly club and has small tricky greens.
Beeston is approx 2-3...
I thought this might be the case in parts of Scotland.
I remember my parents went up there for a Golfing Holiday some years ago. My Mum was asked to leave the car park !
Cant remember where it was though
How many of you guys belong to what I class as Traditional golf clubs.
For example, at our club we still have a men only bar and the ladies have restricted play at weekends.
The men are restricted on Wednesdays as its Ladies day
Although we have had EGM's on this subject, the ladies seem not...
Ours was £800 last year and will probably go up approx 3% this year.
Joining fee is £900.
Its good value though as the course really drains well and therefore we play all through winter unless it snows which is rare these days.
Also off proper winter tees not mats as at some clubs.
Bulwell Forest
Hello Shanker
Shipstones & Home ales dont exist anymore both Breweries were bought out by bigger companies and closed down.
I believe that Bulwell Forest is now run by the members and not the council.Pity its in such a rough area, I wouldnt fancy leaving my car there for long ...
Hello Shanker!
The striker was Duncan Mckenzie. He could also jump over a mini car !
I play at Wollaton Park but have played the Bulwell courses in the past.
Thanks to all you other guys for the interesting comments regarding the 'Yank big hitters'.
