Exclusive Forum Giveaway - Win a pair of the NEW FootJoy FURY golf shoes

It would have to be Woodhall Spa Hotchkin for me. I have played it a couple of times before, but would love to go back when the restoration is complete.

    Drinking Culture at Your Club

Very few at my club drink on course, there will be the odd one in summer, maybe having one at the HWH but that’s about it. Most people stop for a drink afterwards, but probably the majority drink tea & coffee (especially at this time of year) and those that drink alcohol tend only to have one...

Season’s goals: How did you do?!

I never set any hard and fast handicap targets, although would have liked to get down to the teens. In the end that proved impossible, but I did take 1 shot off the handicap, so I guess I'm nearer my target than I was 12 months ago! Clubwise I won my division in the May medal (2nd overall)...

    AG up for sale

I'd be sorry to see them disappear completely, my nearest branch is around 15 miles away and I got my Scotty there 2 years ago during the double trade in offer. I found the staff to be helpful and knowledgeable although the odd visit to other stores has shown this to not always been the case. My...

What things have made the biggest difference to your game?

Interesting to see the range of topics that has cropped up here. For me it would be the following: 1. Changing coaches to someone that can improve my Golf rather than someone that teaches a “one size fits all philosophy”. 2. Dr Bob Rotella’s excellent books, especially “Putting out of...

    Is it cheating?

Definitely against the spirit of the game, etiquette and rules. As others have said, the fact you’re asking the question means that in your own mind/conscience you know what you are doing is wrong. I had a playing partner at my old club that did this one winter. He’d played really well in...

    On course altercations.

Had a slanging match a couple of years back at my then home Club with someone who was (and still is) a mate of mine! It was an open comp and unfortunately for my mate, his loudmouth son had told both me and one of my pp's that they were going to have a go at us over slow play, even though we...

    What ball do you use?

Titleist DT Solo, Truesoft or Srixon Distance in winter. Summer - Bridgestone E6 or B330 RX, Pro v1/v1x, Snell MTB, Wilson DX2 or some of the Vice Trial pack I have left. Don't have any major complaints about any of these, all seem to do what they should for me. Trying to run my stocks down...

    One Course In Leeds

Halifax Bradley Hall or Halifax Ogden? Both are OK but HBH is a marmite course, people tend to love or hate as front 9 isn't to everyone's liking. Ogden is decent, but very exposed to the elements, so if the weather's not great, you'll definitely know about it!

    Hard Decision

Good choice, I did that almost 18 months ago now, left a club where I'd been a member for almost 5 yrs and had quite a few mates and playing partners to join my current club. Best decision I ever made, I've got new friends and playing partners and meet up with my old mates from time to time too...

    Spikeless Golf Shoes

I've worn Skechers Go Golf spikeless all winter with no issues, following a recommendation from our club pro. They've been brilliant in wet, frosty and dry weather and are extremely comfortable. I'd definitely buy another pair.

Pro shops, does anyone buy from them?

I'm more than happy to buy from our pro. She'll price match the likes of Clubhouse and AG and often has great deals on things like gloves, balls and clothing. In fact, my last few major purchases have all been from club pros - irons, fairways and hybrid from one 18 miles away, first person to...

    Golfing regression

I'm not sure you ever overcome it as such, more come to terms with it and learn how to deal with the negative thoughts. I found that reading Bob Rotella's books helped me, he's done half a dozen or more on different areas of the game and you should be able to get them relatively cheap from Amazon.
