Not really that unusual I suspect as many have come to golf via other sports. Rugby was the main part of my life for nearly 30 years and if it were not for age and inury I would still be lacing up my boots every Saturday ahead of any thought of golf. For that reason alone I would take watching rugby over golf. I will also commit the ultimate blasphemy and say that, for me, golf on TV really is just not that interesting nor is it great to watch live. That is just my opinion but I just do not find it the most thrilling of spectator sports and the requirement for hushed galleries means that you do not the get the same atmosphere as sporting events where you can give vocal support.

I hear what you're saying GB and don't disagree.

I was only playing Rugby, Tennis and Squash competitively and kind of fell into golf and found it a constant challenge to master (still trying on all aspects).

I also agree re golf on TV, and Live. I can watch the Open all day and the Masters but I gave up sky sports golf as the European tour was mundane and the PGA coverage held my interest for 22.5 minutes.

Gotta agree with the golf on TV thing. The vast majority is pants, apart from the Majors when the cream are at the top of the leader board. Golf on in our house every weekend, watched by HID who loves it even though she doesn't play... bizarre!

Football World Cup
Ashes
Ryder Cup
The Open
Wimbledon

Hopefully this will take the list on to six pages for guest100718, though for me it is still page 2.

On TV
1. The World Cup
2. The European Championships
3. The Masters (Final Round)
4. The Open (Final Round)
5. The FA Cup Final

Best I've attended:
1. England World Cup QF (Italia 90)
2. Championship Play-off Final (x3)
3. The Open (Royal Lytham x 3)
4. Spanish Grand Prix
5. League Cup Final

(Champions League final if Juventus plays in it :o)
Ryder Cup
The Open
RWC Final
FIFA WC Final
World Series Game 7 (if there is one)

Scottish Cup final 2014 St Johnstone v Dundee Utd :D
Ryder Cup
The Open
Football World Cup
The Masters

Been to three of these, just need a World Cup final and The Masters. As a Scotland fan I better score off the World Cup final.;)

One's I've personally witnessed in no specific order:

1. Nigel Benn Vs Doug DeWitt (Atlantic City)

2. Hatton vs Mayweather (Vegas)

3. St Helens Vs Wigan Silk Cut Challenge (91 Wembley)

4. Man Utd vs Chelsea 0-0 (my 1st away match on my own for my 11th birthday)

5. H4H's 2012 Blackmoor (my 1st ever trophy, 1st ever GM meet, 1st experience of a heathland course)
