Your progression , how bad were you ?

Start playing in April 2011 at local municipal course every other Saturday decided to join my club early 2012. I quickly got involved in swindles and club comps and last August my offical handicap was 20. I have since progressed and played in inter club matchplay comp and recently won net club champs.
This last year has been mental, pressurised golf on a continued basis definitely strengthens your course management and ability to make shots when needed.

I am now playing off 8.7 therefore dropping 11 shots in a year.

Played as a youngster but not in a club. When I did join a club my first handicap was 18. Played for a good while with a handicap in the teens and then somehow managed to get into single figures then to drop down to 7.6 as my lowest before slowly creeping back up. Started this season on 15.6 but still looking to get down again.

I used to hack about in the late 90's and early 00's, then took a break from it until 11 when I started playing 9 holes with my late best mates dad at Hilden Park or Villa Golf. I changed pool teams and my captain ran a golf society so I joined that and they put me off 24 at West Malling on the Spitfire Course and I struggled as I'm not the longest in the world, a few months later they had dropped me to 20 then I won the society competition at Selsedon Park with 40 points.

I was then forced to take another break due to family issues.I started playing again at Poult Wood June this year and I was hitting just over the 100 most of the time and had one of 97. A month ago I decided to pack up playing snooker and pool to play golf and I joined Pedham Place Golf Centre to get my handicap and have since put 2 out of 3 cards in.

Two weekends ago I played in my 1st proper club competition instead of society day competition which was a Seve Foundation Competition at the club to put my 1st card in and I hit 104 which to be honest I was pretty impressed with as it was the of the 1st time I'd ever played off the white's and I had previously hit 101 of the yellow's. I hit 111 last week but I think my nerves got the better of me as I was playing with Chris Hurst who plays Amateur Senior Competitions and plays off 0.5.

I'm now trying to play twice a week including the Sunday competitions at Pedham Place Golf Centre.

Hopefully I will get my 1st official handicap after this weekend, then I can work on reducing it.
