Your favourite golf hole?

14th on the Old Course, called 'Long', just the most superb par 5. Out of bounds all down the right, the Beardies down the left, and you try and drive into the landing area known as 'The Elysian Fields'. Second shot hopefully over Hell bunker trying to avoid the 'Grave' and 'Ginger Beer'. Chip on to an incredibly undulating green that you will do well not to three putt. Pure theatre.

Great call, still not parred it despite about a dozen goes.

The 6th at my club which is a 520 yard par 5 with OOB all the way down the right. It is a beautiful golf hole and IMO one of the best par 5's in the UK.

17TH on the Old Course played it once easy 4, good drive ,6 iron just short ,chipped over the bunker holed putt, simples.

1st at Machrihanish ,class hole., or the 5th at Portstewart Strand 440 yards if i remember ,played it 15 times never parred it once ,elevated tee, then green set thru 2 large dunes with the 2nd shot up hill on to a 3 tierd green, probabaly plays nearer 480 when the flags at the back, and mostly into the wind.

Par 3- 10th at Royal Dornoch, just a beautiful 6 iron to a smallish green surrounded by pot bunkers with views to die for.
Par 4 - 6th at Boat of Garten, very attractive dogleg right, elevated tee, plays downhill to a heather and birches lined tight fairway, 2nd requires a very good shot over a dip to a hogsback green, sticks in the memory.

Dornoch

Lovely hole this, close to a miracle par there once when playing with Pieman & Region 3 (I think).....piped a nice flighted 8 iron over the trees and onto the 6th fairway, full wedge back over the trees to 15ftt and lipped the putt...............course management? Think outside the box!!! :)

Not my favourite, but love this hole too.

Ask Auburn Warrior about my chip in off the left hand bank for birdie. :D

It was nearly as good as PN Wokinghams fabulous chip in at last years Blackmoor meet.

The par 5 12th on the St. Mellion Nicklaus course.

The 12th at St. Mellion is one of the best par 5s you could play. The drive is one of the tightest you'll ever come across, almost claustrophobic on the tee! The par 3 before isn't too shabby either!!

Mine would have to be the 9th hole on the Hawkstone course at Hawkstone Park.

Playing from an elevated tee to a green that sits probaly 30-40 yards below the level of the tee. Carry pretty much to the front edge of a green framed with steep banking.

Either that or the drivable par 4, 16th hole.

Both are truely excellent.

Not played the Hawkstone Course yet but the 10th of the Championship Course is one of my favourite holes to look at with the giant lake on the right hand side (pretty scary for a slicer!). Sahara Corner is also a nice hole. Admittedly you have all probably played more nice courses than I have!

The Postage Stamp 8th at Troon.
I've been lucky enough to play it many times ( retired boss is a member ;) )
From the slightly elevated tee you're faced with a tiny green surrounded by pot bunkers which even in calm conditions and at only 120 yds is a challenge to find.
If the wind is blowing, anything can happen.
I always look forward to playing it.

I seem to be in the minority that find that par 3's don't float my boat.

To me, it's one shot. You have a teeing area and a green, it doesn't matter what's inbetween as far as playing it is concerned. Yes, it can look pretty, but it's still just a tee shot to a green.

Played it once, easy two!

8 iron into right hand bunker. Sand iron into the hole for an unlikely 2! Troon back 9 is the toughest golf I've ever played. You can tell me Carnoustie is tougher if you like but Troon's back 9 into the wind is brutal!
