Your favourite golf hole?

i haven't played on many of the well known courses so my experience is pretty limited

one of my favourites on my home course is a little par 3 150 or so of the yellows, only a stroke index 15,
a little more tricky of the championship 200 yards, it has pot bunkers to the front and right and a run of area at the back.

the green is a pretty large target and very receptive if you pitch on it will stick

Mine would have to be the 9th hole on the Hawkstone course at Hawkstone Park.

Playing from an elevated tee to a green that sits probaly 30-40 yards below the level of the tee. Carry pretty much to the front edge of a green framed with steep banking.

Either that or the drivable par 4, 16th hole.

Both are truely excellent.

Very interesting… I have played there so many times I think I take it for granted a bit! To be honest I don't think I ever really noticed the 9th, it is actually on reflection a very good par 3 indeed! Shame it is preceded by possibly one of the worst golf holes in Shropshire! But I have always loved the 16th it is a cracker!

To be honest I can't think of one for me…! Holes that came to mind where, the 13th and 16th at North Berwick, just ridiculous greens! 1 behind a wall, and the other in two halves… !!

Probably the 9th off the championship tee at Turnberry wins it for me… but I am sure I am forgetting some… so fingers crossed I will be reminded here!

Soon when I play the Old Course, I'm sure one of those will rejig my mind! The most excited I have ever been on a golf course was standing on the 1st tee there and I wasn't even playing, I was working!!

I like the 6th Hole at Hallamshire GC in Sheffield. Cracking Par 3, when the wind is blowing it can be anything from 9i to 3i. If you live in Yorkshire and haven't played Hallamshire, its well worth a visit.

Failing that, I do like the 1st hole at Filey academy course, it's water from edge of T box to edge of green.
and 1st hole at WOLL in scotland, 140yard dogleg with hidden creek, and tree on the inside corner to stop cutting through. And somehow my ball goes through the tree without hitting anything.

17th at Castletown golf club, daunting tee shot over the cliffs with gorse both sides of the fairway, the 5th isn't bad either

Hats the second at my place and it is a cracking hole. The par three at cruit island is cracking as well.

Only ever played it the once, but the 16th on the Karsten Lakes course at Gainsborough is one of the best holes I have ever seen. Par 4, SI 8. 433 yards and most of it uphill. Doglegs to the right, with some strategically placed Pine trees right on the corner. A lake in front of the tee which is fed by a stream that meanders all the way up the right hand side of the hole. A stand out hole that you really could place on any course in the country and it would not be criticised. I managed to blob it, but that doesn't matter. It was a great hole.
Two other great holes are the 11th at Chartham Park, a real cracker of a par 5 where a big drive will allow you to have a pop at the green. Three pine trees come out into the fairway from the left for your second shot and you have to be straight with your drive or else you are blocked out down the left hand side or you are in the lake down the right.
And Hogans Alley at Carnoustie. Fantastic par 5. One of my favourites on the course and you always feel a bit apprehensive on the tee.

3rd on the Dukes at Woburn - if you're playing it in March I'm not sure that the flowers will be out but it looks every bit as good as Augusta on a good day when they are.

Probably the 18th at st pierre, i havent played many other courses though but i always remember this hole.

The 4th at Cruden Bay. Awesome par 3. Framed by dunes and a river. Anything from driver to wedge depending on the wind. Pure class!

The 12th at hevers championship course. Have only played a few courses so this one is the best.

got to be the 13 or 16th at north berwick west links, the course itself is 18 outstanding links holes, but the 13, 400 yards with the approach shot over a 3ft wall that runs along the hole has to be the best. the 16 features a drive with a 250 yard clearance to find a raised green split by a dip cutting through it, another outstnding hole.
