The 14th at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge - Bear's Canyon
With the wind behind, you can can take on the green (290 but usually plays shorter) over the horrendous gorge, or play safe around the bendy dogleg. Dramatic and stunning.

The 3rd hole at Machrihanish is a beautiful hole. Framed beautifully by the Paps of Jura in the background. Strangely enough the hole is called - Islay!

The 17th at Littlestone in Kent when the sun is going down and all the swales and hollows are clearly defined. Anything from a 7 iron to a 3 wood

Pha... my highlight there was stiffing a 3w to about 6ft in a massive thunderstorm.... only to 4 put as the green was completely under water..... 4 putts... 4 bloody putts... it gave me nightmares for a week!

My favourite is the 7th at Askernish. About 420 yards of golfing heaven, in amongst the Atlantic dunes with only some coos for company, magic!

I really like this hole too, have played it maybe a dozen times and think im about 9 over so have sneaked a few pars and did birdie it once.
But I actually prefer the 7th at the same course, not quite as famous as the 13th but I just love the shape of the terrain and the long narrow green. Brilliant...

Lovely hole this, close to a miracle par there once when playing with Pieman & Region 3 (I think).....piped a nice flighted 8 iron over the trees and onto the 6th fairway, full wedge back over the trees to 15ftt and lipped the putt...............course management? Think outside the box!!!

My favorite so far is the 17th East at East Sussex National. I have some great memories playing this hole and it's such a lovely hole to play on a summers evening. You have to be accurate off the tee due to the woods to the right, the large tree to the left (at 190 yards) and the pond + river system that also flows down the left. Also the large lake can catch the longer hitters out (290 yards).
Your second shot is a 150 - 170 yard shot over water to a raised green with a stream that goes down the right edge. The green has lots of lumps and breaks to make sure there are some difficult putts.
It's certainly not the hardest hole but it's very easy on the eye and fun to play.

The 9th at Royal County Down, magnificent, the mountains are the backdrop, completely blind drive, pick your line hit and smile if you have found the fairway.

Mine would have to be the 9th hole on the Hawkstone course at Hawkstone Park.
Playing from an elevated tee to a green that sits probaly 30-40 yards below the level of the tee. Carry pretty much to the front edge of a green framed with steep banking.
Either that or the drivable par 4, 16th hole.
Both are truely excellent.

When I was 19 I spent a summer in Cape Cod, US as a greenkeeper on a private course where a load of Ex football and Hockey players lived.
It was a course carved out of the forest, with lots of great holes.
As greenkeepers we got to hack round it every monday. Golf heaven it was!
