..Is it the punch shot from under trees, the full blooded wedge that stops and spins back, the perfect drive that carries all the nasty stuff, the deft little chip from off the green that roles to with a inch of the hole, a long iron off the deck that pitches perfectly onto the green....

For me it has to be the bunker shot that stops dead exactly where you wanted. Even better if its a fairway bunker and not a green side bunker that requires a more pure strike.

Which shot gives you the most joy from pulling off?

My favourite:

That booming out the button drive that starts off a bit right and at full flight draws in and bounds sweatly down the middle of the fairway.

My most hated:

That duff wedge from 20/40 yards off the green

a 3 iron off the back foot that goes about 20 feet off the ground like a missile. The can turn quickly into a 20 yard duff with the biggest divot u've ever seen

A high pitch shot off wet grass into fog that is thick enough for the ball to dissappear completely at the mid point of its trajectory, slight drizzle of rain on moderate breeze straight into my face; holding my finish in the distinctively eerie silence of a deserted course until well after I have heard the dull thud of my ball striking closely mown turf, the only other sound being my own steady breathing and the babbling of unseen running water somewhere in the distance.

Thats poetic , it's beautiful :D

My Favourite has to be the spectacular recovery from under the trees.

I will never forget playing in the local oldest matchplay tournament against the captain and professional of the club, and having hit a rubbish drive way right on the longest Par 4 and having just over 200 left, I pulled out something I don't think I will be ever able to replicate.

We had just lost the last hole and were 2 down through 4, and already it was starting to get away from us, so I decided, (most probably stupidly!) to aim for a 18" wide gap with a 3 iron, and have a blast.

All I can remember is running out of the trees, having not heard the clatter of a ball in the trees, just as the ball hopped 25 yards short of the green and rolled up to the pin 2 feet short!! :o :o :o :o :o :D

Least Favourite shot, has to be the pulled/pushed wedge from 60+ yards which turns a potential birdie into a bogey.

The par saving chip when you have just missed the green and are under pressure. A nice gimme length chip is fantastic.

Knob. How can you have fog AND wind  :D ;)

Favourite shot is any wedge I dont sh*nk :D

Anything where u have to shape it and it actually comes off. I rarely manage it but one 4 iron faded/sliced round a tree onto the green still makes me smile!

You mean one of these!

A stiffed wedge shot from inside 100yds, especially to get up and down for par. I practice distance control with half and 3/4 wedge shots quite a bit and there's no better feeling than getting it right on the course
