Xfactor utter tosh

Coldplay - on another level.

Absolute class

If by "Absolute Class" you mean "utterly boring pretentious rubbish" then yes, I agree ;)

Sorry, but Coldplay are really, really boring. The live version of "Clocks" they did at Glasto a few years back is about the only thing they've done that I've enjoyed.

And whilst I agree that X Factor is mostly utter pish, the argument about "real" bands that Homer mentioned is ridiculous and narrow minded as well. Not writing their own songs doesn't make them any less credible there are plenty of "credible" artists who don't write their own material (Adele being one of them - she has "help").

There's also been some genuine talent produced by the X Factor. Leona Lewis being the most well known. You'll be pleased to know that last year's winner, Matt cardle, writes his own stuff (and co-writes with others) AND plays his own instrument! But this surely isn't possible? Since he was on the X-Factor?

As terrible as they look, that girl band will probably do well for a number of years and provide entertainment and a good role model (provided they don't start doing drugs ;)) for a younger generation of girls. Not a terrible thing IMO and they were deserved winners in the best of a bad bunch.

The great thing about music is that it's all subjective, and if you don't like the stuff they churn out, don't buy it and don't listen to it. Happy Days (Fragger summed it up best).

...................... And which branch of Burger King is he working in now?

To be honest, I'm not Coldplays biggest fan (.... That'll be the wife), but I have to say that their set at Glastonbury was fantastic.

Erm he's just released his debut album which is actually pretty good. Not the usual "urban pop" stuff that is usually released by X factor winners. Proper good song writing. He has a fantastic voice too.

Lighthearted, colourful entertainment for a Saturday night - the ones that progress near the final are definitely talented and good luck to them if they can make a fair few bob along the way.

Just another 200 or so channels to choose from if you don't like it. Or, alternatively, you could demonstrate your total lack of a life by watching some of it and then logging onto a web based forum to complain about it.

:D.

Guys!! Mellow man

PT Fragger is quite right. There is no need to get worked up about something that you are not required to watch. Just ignore it. Challenge TV are running old episodes of Bullseye, complete with Jim "Now you've got five pound, that's safe" Bowen. Genius, sheer genius. Watch that instead.

If darts quizzes don't float your boat then frankly you could be beyond redemption.

I think we have a differing opinions on what constitutes "Good music" :ears:

However we DO agree Coldplay are over-rated :whoo:

Good point, well made :)

I love X Factor and even more so now the delightful Gary Barlow is in residence. Sure it has some rubbish but those that progress have got some talent and way more than I'll ever have. Misha B will be a star for sure and last year Matt Cardle was spine-tingling good (for me) and his first album is good (again, for me!). What I love about it is that it gives people the opportunity to shine and make something of their dreams and without it I'm not sure they'd ever have the vehicle to do that.

TV snobbery and Music snobbery is beyond me - each to their own...

Entertainment is very very subjective and long may that continue - one man's meat and all that

:D You'd be surprised, I probably love some of the stuff you like. I just have a wide and eclectic taste and appreciate most music having been brought up on it from a very early age and through playing the guitar.

Among my favourite "this generation" bands are Opeth (progressive death metal), Killswtich Engage (shouty metal), Iron Maiden (metal), Counting Crows (rock pop), Dream Theater (prog metal), Boo Hewerdine (folky acoustic bloke) and Jason Mraz (acoustic pop). Varied, as I said lol.

Now I really feel old :ooo: - who????

Saturday nights I just want to be entertained with my tv viewing. X factor has just got stale so I dont watch it so much. At least they all sing live ! I have a remote contol so I don't even have to get up to turn it off these days. Have to say though that i saw deep purple a week ago and they would knock Coldplay into a cocked hat!
