Would your club allow these...........

Would probably be ok at our club, but they would contravene the dress code of a several clubs nearby. I have some Craghopper walking trousers where the leg pocket is concealed. Never had a problem with those anywhere I've played.

I think they'd be ok at our place. They are relatively relaxed about dress code as long as you dont take the mick.

I bought a pair of black thermal trousers from aldi a couple of years ago to walk the dog in . They are that good i play all winter in them. No pockets on legs though. I'll be buying another pair now the cold weather has arrived

I know that some clubs don't allow "cargo shorts" during the Summer months, and as these had "cargo" pockets I thought they would be frowned upon also.

Mine is one of those clubs - but I am 99% certain that these would be OK as they are most definitely 'smart-styled' trousers in a conventional sense - whereas 'cargo pants' are normally not 'smart' shorts.

I think in the depths of winter no one would really bother, afterall most of us wear our waterproof trousers at this time of year which aren't exactly smart in some cases.

Have just purchased a couple of pairs of fleece lined trousers, basically for fishing during the colder months.
Have tried them on, and they fit perfectly. Look like a pair of chino's but obviously much, much warmer.
They have two cargo pockets, one on each leg as can be seen in the pictures on the website....

Would you be allowed to wear these to play golf in at your club????

Wouldn't be seen dead in them on the bank, but perfect for winter golf.

Yes being the practical answer relative to the club.

Strangely I don't think they would appreciate my fishing gear - but probably wouldn't see me anyway!

No problems at my club. Bought two pairs recently as I know how useful they are having the pockets and that my club are not bothered.

When you are hanging off the west coast of Europe, keeping warm is the priority, not worrying how others are doing it.

I have a couple of pairs of Craghoppers which are great for cold dry days. The low side pockets are pretty unobtrusive and no objections have been forthcoming.

Ona scale of plus 2s, Loudmouth, Orange waterproofs, etc these look almost formal! :smirk:

What about non-golf specific waterproofs from Mountain Warehouse, Berghaus, North Face and the like?

They would be fine. As long as they meet the dress code, which is no jeans or cargo pants.

Loads of golfers dress from Marks and Spencer, or Matalan. It's not golf specific, and it doesn't have to be.

Borderline at my place I think. You'd probably get away with it during winter, but they'd be a few members muttering under their breath about the decline in standards.

Having these extra pockets is super handy. I actually have a pair of waterproof trousers that have no pockets at all and they are a complete nightmare to play golf in.

Pretty much the same at my place. Cargo trousers/shorts are, strictly speaking, a breach of the dress code but I suspect that nobody would order you off the course because of them. There would be plenty of muttering and tutting and you run the risk of one of several particularly grumpy members pulling you up by the clubhouse before you tee off.

With you on that. I bought a pair of new waterproofs in Jan for golf and hill-walking - and only realised they didn't have pockets until I got home. But they were a good price and excellent trousers and so I thought that I'd be fine with them on the golf course - especially as I only wear waterproof trousers in the worst weather and so assumed that when wearing the trousers I would also be wearing a jacket so could use jacket pockets. And all that is true - but what faff.

If you went and asked in the office or a few of the older members, they would tell you that they probably should not be worn. If however you went out to play in them I would be amazed if anyone said a word. The club members in general are a ahead of the rules, which I think is the same at many clubs.

Of all the dress code debates I don't think I've sever seen an explanation on the exact reason why certain items don't meet the dress code. Really what is the problem with a pocket or two on the outside leg of a pair of trousers?

The worst example I remember was someone being asked (a lady member I think) to change her trousers as the ones she was wearing had rivets on the pockets of them. Even more bizarre they were from a "recognised golf clothing company" (Ping?) and were purchased at the course Pro shop
