Would you pay to play Pinehurst

For me the course is totally uninspiring, lacks the views and attraction of the majority of championship courses, doesn't know if it wants to be a links course and a bit like Qatar hosting the word cup, I don't think it's befitting of an event like the US Open.

Is it me or would others also not entertain paying for the privilege of playing there?

I'd happily pay and play it. For me it's been a far better US Open course than many others they've used

Have any of you seen Donald Trump's comments on Twitter regarding Pinehurst? Really undermining the course and the USGA

Awesome course. Real test of golf and golfers. I would happily play it every day in preference to an over manicured resort course with artificial lakes. I think the USGA got it spot on.

With regards to the OPs question, probably go up to $150, may be $175.

Looked a fine course to me, also like the way they are playing the ladies open

No. But as a 27 handicapper I'd get full value if I did. Breaking 100 would not be an issue...150+ would be more like it:fore:

Trump fully understands that there's no such thing as bad publicity; he's managed to comment on Pinehurst in a manner that's mentioned courses he owns that's all. He also knows that with the absence of TW, lack of electricity from PM and the dominance of MK, the US TV ratings will be down - nothing to do with the course set up at all. Typical Trump cheap shot.

As to the course and it's set up - IMO simply superb.

Wonderful looking course. The fact Trump doesn't like it only adds appeal. Trump is a vulgarian who thinks courses need waterfalls. His Trump National LA (which has a waterfall) is the supreme example if mutton dressed as lamb.

As for views, Torrey Pines has great views. Pity about the golf course.

I agree although I'll go as far as saying the Trump National is mutton dressed as mutton. I like Pinehurst in an natural format. It was a course where players actually had to think on every shot.

Spot on Ethan in regards Trump and would certainly pay to play Pinehurst - natural beauty

Pinehurst looks great to me!

Trump courses look too tarted up to me! Like the man himself!

From my (limited) experience of playing a round at Doral I'd say it's horses for courses. Yes there was a big chuffin fountain in the middle of a big chuffin lake, but the course was lovely for a parkland course. It's no links course carved out of the natural landscape, but it didn't feel artificial too me.

Would be interesting to see what those who have played them think (not having a go here, but I think with Trump you get a lot baggage which will influence people's opinion of his courses, and the proof is in the pudding so to speak.)
