Would you pay to play Pinehurst

I thought it was awesome, can't understand the muni comments (because it wasn't lush green?)

Anyway will be more interested if the same comments are made about Hoylake if the grass is burned out too.
 
There is a very encouraging vogue at present in the the US to move away from uber-crafted artificial courses to more natural courses. When Donald Ross designed Pinehurst, it didn't look vibrant green with carefully manicured fairways. It looked like a southern states version of a British sand belt course. That is what Crenshaw and Coore tried to restore, and I think they succeeded admirably. Thank God (if there is one) Trump didn't get to tart it up like some of his other creations.
