It’s just playing golf on the course , where someone changes there shoes or sit for drinks based on what their membership wants isn’t really too much of a worry when it comes to morals
I have played New Zealand as a guest multiple times.
It’s a nice course and whenever I have played it’s been pretty much millionaire golf.
As far as I’m concerned it’s their club and their rules.
There is nothing too over the top for me so I’m happy to play it and accept their rules.
It may not be for everyone and I accept that as well.
I have always received great and polite service and enjoyed every round there and for me that’s what matters.

Were did I say I wouldn’t play that particular Club or those particular rules would bother me, but I have a line and my own moral compass.

Some don’t.👍🏻

Do you mean, "turn up and pay?"

Not overly excessive! I'm clearly missing something 😉
Just a general question, for example; some on here have said they will never play a trump course, some wouldn’t pay over a certain amount, some might not play a course they perceive as snobbish or stupid dress codes etc etc.

But I think others would also “sell their soul” if it meant play a particular course.

I know we’ll get the old, you always have a choice, no ones forcing you blah blah blah, but would that attitude change if they had the chance to play it for free.

I would sell my first born son for 9 holes at the local muni in the middle of December😂

I would love to play Turnberry. If I refused to pay is POTUS going to lose any sleep?

I have to say I don't think my moral compass would be troubled by any rules I have ever heard of at a golf club. Certain presidential ownerships would trouble me more morally than any rules. If I was invited I might swallow them though.

I'm even prepared to swallow my moral values and visit clubs that allow hat wearing indoors.

I think I’d just about play anywhere once.
However some of the factors that have been mentioned on here would probably prevent me from returning.
Life is too short to suffer unwelcoming, unfriendly people or to have to wear clothes that I wouldn’t choose to wear otherwise or for that matter to having to keep on changing into a jacket and tie every time I want to go into the clubhouse.

Ferndown has a separate visitor changing room. It's nothing to do with 'us and them' it's purely logistics. The members locker room isn't large and there was a room on the other side of the toilets/showers so it made sense to convert that to a visitor locker room. Nothing wrong with that at all just common sense.

PS....I had a virtually brand new pair of FJ shoes stolen from our locker room years ago. It was our day allocated to societies so virtually no members around. Make of that what you want.
Logistics or not I don’t believe in segregating people just because someone is only a fee paying visitor doesn’t mean they should be treated differently. You may disagree, frankly I don’t care I wouldn’t pay to play somewhere like that.

Different people have different morals and beliefs, that’s just one of mine. As for who stole your shoes virtually no members still doesn’t mean “no members at all” but then it’s easy to blame outsiders 🤷🏼

I'm sure there's something that would stop me going to play a club, but I haven't encountered it yet.

Is chaging into jacket and tie for lunch, before changing back into golf clothes for the afternoon round a bit of a pain.

Yes. Absolutely.

Is it worth it to play Rye and eat their excellent lunch? Blooming right it is. 🤣🤣🤣

If you don't approve, that's up to you.

When we play Rye we meet up in the clubhouse in jacket and tie then change into golf kit for the morning round, then back into jacket and tie for lunch, then back into golf kit for the afternoon, then back into jacket and tie for the presentation then back into normal clothes to go out in the evening. It is all a bit of a faff that grows old quite quickly.
The lunch is good but not unbelievable, the greens are good but I can take or leave the course, if it wasn’t a fixture I would not be going back.
