No not offended in any way, shape or form, I simply donโ€™t see the point.

No one has actually given a reason why you need to wear a hat indoors apart from fashion reasons.๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
It's not a question of needing to wear it, it's just convenient if you were already wearing it, to continue wearing it, otherwise you have to carry it or put it on the table and not forget it when you leave. You also don't need to wear a coat indoors but nobody made any silly rules about having to take them off. In fact they did the opposite and made rules about keeping your jacket on! You couldn't make it up. (Except, at one point in history, somebody did. ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Wonder what else could be something we have done over the years but we are unsure of the origins - bit like saying please and thank you or holding a door open for someone ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜
Please and thank you have logic and meaning. It's a recognition that you are asking a favour of someone or asking them to do something for you, and then thanking shows you appreciate them having done that. Taking your bat off means precisely bugger all.
