My club is for sale and the guide price is 1.75mil. If you had the money or won the lottery would you buy a golf club? If my numbers come up in the euromillions I would. I wouldn't have a clue how to run it but be fun at the start. I'm not sure its the best investment. What would you change at your club if you owned it? The only change i'd make is to the locker room. I'd extended it and give everyone a locker which golf clubs would fit in.

Don't you just love the PR BS rubbish 'established and highly profitable'....if that is the case why are they selling it.

I have nearly leased and bought a course twice in my life.
Sorry to have missed the first one, not sorry to have missed the second. We put in a bid of just under £1m only for the solicitor to tartly tell us we have completely wasted his time.
18 months later it was sold for £800.000.

As OP has stated many folk buy a golf course without a clue as to how it is run and the ins and outs of the business. That is why so many fail.

I'd have to win the Euromillions to buy one as the regular lottery wouldn't leave me enough to play with. If I was to buy a course, I'd want to make significant improvements as nothing annoys me more than when a golf club won't (or can't invest in the quality of the course.

I'd rather own a nice strip of links land and create my own 3 or 4 hole practice course in my garden if I had the money!

I'd buy one, if I had 1.75M I'd buy that one. I don't think it would be possible to run one at a loss unless you literally had no idea how to run a business. There's 100's of goat tracks that still make a profit.

If I won the lottery I'd rather play a lot of courses, decide which I liked the most, play a few rounds there to get a feel of the place and if it was still go I'd negotiate a lifetime membership

If I even had half of the amount for our Track I'd be approaching the Banks. It makes a small profit, which I think would be sufficient to pay back and make small improvements each winter ready for the next season.

The 1st thing I'd do is cut the rough, get the grass combed and manage the rough rather than let it be purely wild. Yes the pictures in the brochure aren't half as bas as the rough really is. Ask PhilSH. By the way PhilSH do you play in the comps or just socially?

In a heart beat. I'd then make it so every fairway went left to right to accomadate my slice and every hole was placed in a funnel like area so I could sink every putt ;)

]Would I heck, I've run a business Fueled by the passion from my hobby and it ruined my hobby, to the point where I come back to golf. I've also rejected the offer to buy a small golf business for that very reason,

I'd happily buy a house on the back of camberley Heath and join there though ;)

I'm just a social player and happy with that at the min. The rough is getting better. Played Sunday and the rought was much better. Must have had the flymo's out.

i saw it in the local press 2 weeks ago, over priced by about a million, mind you saying that the club house would make nice flats and you could get plenty of nice big houses on it,watch this space!!!!!

If i won a ridiculous amount of money and £2M was just pocket change....probably. But I wouldn't expect to make any money!

I'd buy my course and cut down a load of the trees and restrict the lady members' tee times to after 8pm summer, 4pm in winter.
