Would it be too weird to play golf in bare feet? ?

It’s been done, probably teeing off from a beer can at the same time.

I would say in dry, warm climates on the right kind of grass it’s probably not an issue. In the UK? No thanks!

Byron Nelson was famous for preferring to play barefoot, but wasn’t always allowed to.

My mate walked a few holes last week in his sock after a shoe dug a hole in one back of his heel.

I couldn't convince him to ditch both shoes and play on. Haha

They did a video recently on playing in spikes, spineless and barefoot.
They could barely make a controlled swing barefoot..

Very interesting. I’m following a method at the moment that says spiked shoes are completely unnecessary. As in you shouldn’t need to dig in with feet to that degree for a solid efficient swing.

Maybe if you swung like Fred Couples......but if you swing like gorilla-man DeChambeau I think you might need all the help you can get for traction.

It is a rule where I play that golf shoes must be worn.

Given what comes out of some the trees where I play and how a lot of the paths are made up I would not even consider playing barefooted.

Seen guys in flip flops in the USA but they had soft spikes in.
But never here , you would end up with trench foot at the moment.
Wouldn’t fancy a long iron off a hanging lie without shoes.
Pine needles, tree bark , sand in waste areas. To name a few no no’s.

Some good points about playing off paths trees and rough areas. Could always have some crocs (the horrid things) hanging off the bag for such common occasions!

I wouldn’t from a hygiene point of view anyway. Even a small nick or cut in your foot , you could be standing in anything on the ground. Lots of animals around courses, stand in some rats pee and it could be curtains with Weil’s disease. Same with weed killer that greens keepers could be using
