Per title I'll start us off with a nomintion for the section of the A82 along the north part of Loch Lomond side between Tarbet and Ardlui. This is the Glasgow to Fort William road.

Issues-
Too narrow to the point 2 HGVs or coaches have to stop and inch past eachother (this is an A road apparently)
Very very twisty (it follows the edge of the loch and historic horse and cart route)
Flooded permanently on west side of carriageway as cannot be easily drained given mountain and steep hill to west. Insufficient culverts / roadside ditches.
Very poor surface condition (given the lack of width, profile, drainage and permanent water on it)
Downright dangerous as very busy in summer with foreigners galore.
Shocking lack of improvement investment over the decades.
Stop start nature of driving it (when you know it and others dont) drives you a little mad.

Had the misfortune to drive it both directions yesterday, in this day and age just shouldn't be. :(
I'm sure there are hundreds of others. Name and shame.

I would nominate the A303 west of the Countess Roundabout (Amesbury). It does make a very good car park though and gives you plenty of time to look at Stonhenge.

A1 Morpeth to Edinburgh. Minimal dual carriageway sections, a long dull road with lots of speed cameras and plenty of people looking to die whilst trying to overtake when they shouldn't. Hateful road.

I wouldn't argue against the A69 section as mentioned by Beezerk.

Basically, any single carriageway road that is actually a main route and so should be two lanes at least.

Actually you're right mate, I much prefer going over the A69 than up the A1. You can get over to Carlisle in an hour ish, A1 to Edinburgh is a good 2 hours of crap roads.

With you on that one.
I drove back from the highlands last year and got stuck behind a powerful Audi being driven by a woman wearing a hat.
If she got above 25mph I would have been surprised, she braked to 15 mph on every corner, no way of passing.
There must have been 200 cars behind her.
When we got to Tarbet I sighed with relief but she then speeded up to 60 mph until she turned off at Cameron House.

The last time I drove north on that road it was very quiet, toddled along at my own speed and it was a beautiful run.

You boys need to try Devons A roads.

Grew up in N. Devon. Tis a lot more fun on the 'B' class across Exmoor (Exford, North Molton etc). Once came to a halt as a car and caravan had broken down at Hawkridge - Caravan was rocking with bored couple! ended up going into a field to get past.

You don't get interesting stuff on the A'class routes - A34 has to be one of the pretty bad routes.

Having travelled the A82, A65 and A69 I can safely say that the A82 is the worst, especially in dark rainy nights. I don't really mind the other two but the A82 is definitely not good.

That's a real shame! It probably has some of the most majestic scenery in the UK too! Though it was Summer when I was on it!

A34 has to be one of the pretty bad routes.

I've never had bad experinced if the A34 and I used to drive it a lot. The the A34 then A43 route and always quite enjoyed it.

I also do the A1 a lot too as far north as the A64 turnoff, sometimes further north. Love the A1 despite the narrow bits where is should be dual and the constant roadworks.

A180 with its weird noisy road surface though, hate that! What is that all about?

The stretch from Newbury to Oxford has become a death trap. Its not the road, its the drivers. Think about 10 dead in the past year or so, including the family of 4 that was in the news where the lorry driver was on his phone. Some of the slip roads are quite short and blind as are some of the lay bys, its just the standard of driving!!

You could have the misfortune after being on the A82 to be heading for Campbletown and have to move on to the A83. There were parts of that where there was barely enough room for 2 cars to pass each other in opposite directions never mind lorries, buses etc.

Strange, I do the Campbeltown run reasonably often and never had an issue with the A83. The part from Tarbert to Westport is one of my favourites drives in the UK. Lochgilphead to Tarbert is tighter and twistier but moves ok in my experience.

A9 always used to be a pain, but now with the Average speed cams and Tesco going to Rain its much better

A82 a very busy narrow road all the way to Inverness, with accidents on a daily basis.

A96 just busy all the way from Sneck to Aberdeen, may get better once they get around to a few more bypasses, esp Nairn and Elgin

I did that road towards Campbelltown on the way to Machrahanish once and it scared the willies out of me. I was driving a sports car and knew it was 20 miles until the next main junction. Having almost gone head into a couple of lorries coming the other way before finding passing spots, thankfully a 4x4 came up behind and I let him through to follow him the rest of the way. When we got to the end of the section, he waved realising what I had done.

After that, the tee shot across the beach on the 1st was an absolute doddle.
