I see Kamer is now no 2 in the World Rankings behind Lee. He overtook Tiger this weekend with his latest win. The rankings this week are:

World top 10:-

1. Lee Westwood (ENG) 8.69pts

2. Martin Kaymer (GER) 8.09

3. Tiger Woods (USA) 7.13

4. Graeme McDowell (NIR) 6.42

5. Steve Stricker (USA) 6.02

6. Phil Mickelson (USA) 5.99

7. Rory McIlroy (NIR) 5.92

8. Jim Furyk (USA) 5.64

9. Paul Casey (ENG) 5.63

10.Luke Donald (ENG) 5.42

I wonder how long it is been - if EVER - Europeans were 1 and 2 in the world.

Can you remember a time when this was the case? I don't believe it has ever happened in the modern era ie since world rankings existed.

I am sure in the days of James Braid, Old and young Tom Morris etc we had the best players, but since Word Rankings existed I don't believe there has ever been a time wher we had the 1&2 places.

Also interetsing to note we have 6 in the top 10 now!

It is a fantastic achievement by them both.

It is also worth noting that Tiger Woods' highest points score was a mind-boggling 32.44 as world number one. Almost 4 times higher than Westwood's.

How the mighty have fallen!

That's a mighty fine looking list from a European point of view right now. poulter lurking just outside at 12 too, if he carries on like he was playing last year, can see him creeping into that list as well.

Just looking at the world ranking archives shows that 1993 was the last time that two Europeans headed the list (at least from the sample of pages I looked at) The first issue of the Sony World rankings in 1986 had

1 Langer
2 Ballesteros
3 Lyle

Greg Norman took over for most of 87/88

June 1989 saw
1 Ballesteros
2 Faldo

April 1991
1 Woosnam
2 J M Olazabal

May 1993
1 Faldo
2 Langer

Largely Norman and Price between 1993 - 1997, then Tiger joined in.

It's also pretty amazing that 2 guys from a wee toty place like Norn Iron are in there.

Yes and 3 in the top 5 at Abu Dhabi :)Paricularly being I backed all the local golfers each way. Made a tidy profit.
