We're on the point of buying a new house but at the 11th hour woodworm has been discovered in some roof timbers. Obviously, we're going to get it checked out before completing missives but I just wondered if anyone on here knows much about woodworm....?

Is is serious? Expensive or difficult to eradicate?

Just trying to get a feel for whether this will be a minor hiccup or a potential deal breaker...

Depends on the extent of the damage and what timbers have actually been affected. Worst case it could cause significant structural issues. You need a professional opinion on this one before going any further.

Not one to be ignored but if it's not too far gone is quite treatable. Had it in our first house and had it treated with a 100 year guarantee. This was thirty five years ago so not sure of costs these days.

Quite easy to treat if active, but if it is historical could be a nightmare.
Call the experts.

BTW 2.3....is that still coming down, if so well done.

We're going to get an expert in to check before we sign any missives but am optimistic it'll not be a big deal.....

Yeah 2.3 is the new low - got cut in my last 4 comps last year, didn't want the season to end. Cheers! :D

Karen, one of the best in the central belt is Richardson and Starling, worth a call to them and also get a second opinion elsewhere.

Best of luck pal
