Women playing with men

500yds is a lot... 6,800yds is doable... 7,300yds and you'd have to be Tiger. 50yds on 10 holes?... that's 4 clubs more... maybe 5... maybe 6 in some cases.....

Out of interest, did any women ever play off the whites?... how did you fair?

I've never played off the whites but I have played courses where the reds are longer than the whites at my course and played to handicap. So I wouldn't have a problem there - there's probably only about 3 holes where the extra length is actually significant. But > 7000 ? I'd be whacking a lot of fairway woods and probably not having a lot of fun, it's true.

stableford is probably the fairest for mixed competitions. I agree carrys from the whites are a problem, there are a couple on our course that I would struggle with.

The difference with the whites and reds is never that different 725 yards at my club. I play with the ladies section every week as well as playing in the comps on Saturday. They are a lovely group of people and it really changes your game to play better course management. I see men time after time taking on risky shots and just getting away with it and hitting trees. the lady would take her medicine and chip out to save par or boggy the bloke would be double or possibly tripple! the whites men get all macho and think right driver hit it hard! the ladies would just club to a nice yardage and play those longer holes for bogey.

one club i would not join or recommend is this one!! who is to say new young members wouldn't be treated the same.

Last year I played in a mixed charity comp and was paired with the ladies champ at the time. 19 years old, how shall we say... Athletic..., and off 4. This girl can play, she drives 260yds, so averaging only 10-15yds behind me!
We had a bot of banter and joked about swapping tee boxes (I play off the reds) and she said she would happily play off the whites with me... So I took her on at that - the result? I lost 2&1!
If someone is good at the game it don't matter whether they are male or female and if you can;t get your head around that simple fact then you maybe should rethink if golf is the game for you.

Nice advice there. I do not think women should be playing with men and that they should play with other women in the ladies section, that somehow translates to I should give the game up! Er no I don't think so but thanks for that option. This is only my opinion, it seems others are more liberal in their thinking and good luck to you who think that way. I cannot see the attraction myself as I have said for me golf is my way of getting away from women and spending a bit of time with my friends and having a laugh, If you enjoy playing with women great, I do not. It is nothing to do with golfing prowess, how far someone hits it or what tees they play off, or indeed how they go to the toilet. I was brought up to believe that after a hard weeks work a man has a right to a bit of social time. I really do not want to be hanging about with ladies on the golf course.

Each to their own - good on you DB for stating your opinion.

Must admit there are lots of people I wouldn't be keen to play with, some of them male and some female. Haven't yet identified an entire category of person to avoid!

I had a nice round with three men today which just happened as we were all preparing to play around the same time. Good guys, good times and I even let them get a word in. ;)

The real question is if the women are playing golf who is cooking and cleaning?

Jokes aside, if someone wants to hang out with a particular group of people/demographic in their spare time, then its up to them, right? Nobody is saying there is anything wrong with woman golfers, they are just saying they prefer not to play with them. You play golf or any game to have fun, well theoretically anyway, and fun isnt and will never be the same for everyone.

The chippie does the cooking and my cleaner does the cleaning - simples! ;)

Your misses must love you......:mmm:

Working all week then at the golf club all weekend? What does she get to do to get away from it all and have some time out from you?

Our course once held the Coronation Foursomes finals [women will know]
120 pairs in a day.
We had a newish catering manager and he wanted to put on a real show.
I went through his plan and at the end I went through my event risk assesment.
When I had finished I handed him a pair of ear plugs and we had a good laugh.

Just before the presentation he leaned over and shouted in my ear, 'I thought you were joking about the ear plugs.'

There is such a lot of guff spoken by 'the lads' about womens golf. At her best my daughter played off +1.
She used to say that men who put down womens golf only do so out of ignorance because they have never played with a low handicap women player.

So, Come on you alpha males, what is the lowest handicap women golfer you have played with.
