Im sorry drawboy but you need to read this post over and realise how behind you are in society, and more importantly take a long hard look at yourself as this kind of talk belongs in the 1800's... women are rightfully equal to men, if it was a coloured person that was enforced on the group would you post on here saying how wrong it is? I think not, its the same principle with women, why should they be treated differently? If you honestly believe they are inferior to you (which is what your post suggests) and that they should not decide who they play with then you are a disgrace

DB. If you are serious, and I'm inclined to believe that you are, then you should find a Men Only club or restrict yourself to playing with men at Munis. The fact that you have joined a mixed club means you have accepted the mixed nature of golf - in spite of your ridiculous prejudice. Or perhaps take up (Village?) Cricket!
And I agree, Jordan would have great difficulty swinging (a golf club) properly!

I am all for equality in life but it just doesent exist ingolf.
Women play a different course up there from the reds. Why not make everybody play from the whites in comps and let the handicap system take care of things.
How there are mixed commps i will never know. Huge yardage differences and the par of the course can be 2 or 3 shots different. And then there is the courtesy shot, whats that all about.
Its like me playing monopoly and a woman playing scrabble then trying to figure out who won

oh dear, sorry we dont have the same muscle structure as men.
Maybe the olympics will just throw all the competitors out in mixed groups too. should make for interesting 100 metre races and shot putting

There is no such thing as "courtesy" shots. If a woman plays from the men's card (therefore men's SSS and Stroke Index) then the equalisation between the SSS of the Reds v Whites is the adjustment. It's not rocket science.

Yeah throw them all in together but some get a head start and some only have to run three quarters of the race.

net72 ... there's a very good reason why women play from forward tees and it's because they don't carry the ball so far through the air as men so simply adjusting a h'cap wouldn't work for the simple reason the women wouldn't be able to make the carries from any of the mens' tees.
Mind you, I was watching some of the girls at Curtis Cup training recently and not only were they playing from white tees but also the occasional blue one!
Nevertheless, notwithstanding elite amateurs, the vast majority of female gofers would struggle to make carries from anything further back than the red tees.
To the poster who clearly doesn't have any grasp of golf history, women have been playing this game since the time of Catherine of Aragon (one of Henry VIII's wives). Indeed, Mary Queen of Scots was a very keen devotee of the game. It was the club system which largely denied women fair and equitable access to the game.

And as for the comment somebody made about taking a leak, if you cannot play golf for 4 hours without going to the toilet then you have medical issues me thinks or should wear trainer pants like my kids did when they were coming out of nappies.
Come on guys get real its dinasaur comments like his that hurts the game and puts people off young and old.

Dangerous to generalise. On average, you're correct however many women play better golf and hit the ball further than many men. So you can't just claim this is about ability.
Personally, I'd love the opportunity to play a mixed comp off the whites. I wouldn't win but I'd be a long way from last. Not sure the majority of the ladies would fancy it though.

I do not see the problem with ladies playing at my club. My mates girlfriend has just taken up the game and joined my club and so has my girlfriend. We are both looking forward to it.
Regarding joining the Tuesday/Thursday swindle at my club may cause a slight problem. It is played in 3-balls 3/4 handicap, with the best 2 scores of 3 to count and all 3 counting on the 9th and 18th. Not sure how having ladies playing a course with a different stroke indexing and par could affect the outcome of any group that included a lady though. If it is not going to have a major effect on the outcome then why not let them play.
There are a few ladies in my club who could show a majority of men on this site how to play golf, seeing as some of them have cat 1 handicaps. Also the ladies at my glub have now got through to the final stages of the Daily Mail, so there are some good players of the female persuasion in my club. But with it having a ladies section of about 80 members I do not see them ever being bothered about playing in the mens comps.

I'm up for it. I often have to hit 3 off the tee from the whites in foursomes when the old man shhhhh's one out of bounds. I've often had the longer drive too
men seem to talk about the 'whites' as if they are some scary thing - its only a few yards! bring it on!

Yeah, at my course it's an extra 500 yards longer than the reds... big wows! :lol:
