Anyone played here?

I was teased with a round at Stoke Park on Friday but my mate can't get us on as he's taking actual clients there next week, so I now have to settle with Wokefield Park. I understand it's not going to be in the league of Stoke Park, but please tell me I won't be disappointed!

I have played it a few times. Its quite a challenge, and fairly long. Its been about 5 years but the first few are reasonably open. There is a par 5 (4th or 5th) with water in play. In fact water features a fair bit. The back nine is more open and windswept than the front which has more of a parkland feel. The main protection the back nine had apart from the length of some of the par 4's was they let the rough grow up (there were bits that had hay growing about 10 yards off line). The last few holes are a little hilly and tough going. I'd give it a 5.5/10

I've played it if its the course with the hotel complex nr. Reading.

It wasnt too bad but yes not a patch on Stoke. Burnham or Lambourne are great alternatives not far from Stoke.

Played there a few times but not for a couple of years. From what I remember, Homer has pretty much summed it up. There are much better in the area but it ain't bad.

If I'd thought about it you could ahve come over to Ascot but I've got a game sorted now. Mind you we are a 2 ball going out about 10 if you fancy it

Thanks for the offer but my train doesnt get in til 2pm and I'm not paying for it. (corporate freebie) So I cant complain too much.

Stoke Park freebie would have nice! (and will hopefully come to fruition before the end of the year!)

God, how I wish I was playing at Stoke Park this weekend! I keep looking at the website wondering what might have been! :D

I'm going to pester the hell out of my mate to get a round sorted there on friday. I'll pay for it if I have to....BUT...if it's on a corporate freebie, then I won't complain ;)

I'm trying my best to look forward to Wokefield at the weekend though. It can't be too dissimilar to Belton Woods, which is also a DeVere, and I enjoy playing there, even though the course isn't in massively good nick, I just need to stop thinking about where I could have been playing. Plus, a round of golf is a round of golf and it means half a day at work on Friday followed by two heavy nights on the beer, followed by a day in the sun playing Football in the biggest game of the year on Sunday in Finsbury Park.
