I need help guys. I'm trying to piece together a report on Woburn for the magazine in July but I just don't have enough information to pull one together from the Woburn thread. Some details on the conditions 'just needed pine needles to be Augusta' apparently, any funny stories on the day did Murph win longest drive on one of the courses because it got narrow past 270 yards and everyone else hit it in the rough, and what were the results?

Morning (Marquess)
1st ... RickG (34)
2nd ... Smiffy??
3rd ... Homer (32)
Nearest Pin ...
Longest Drive ... PieMan?

Afternoon (Dukes)
1st ... :o (37)
2nd ... Stuart_C (32)
3rd ...
Nearest Pin ...
Longest Drive ... Murph?

And did the two winners donate prizes to HFH?

Thanks for your help guys

If it helps, I was longest drive for all of a minute teeing of 2nd in the final group, then murph teed off 3rd.. It looked like mine had made it but just wasn't to be.. fundy pulled up with a mystery illness after 18 had here in the towel, to be honest we were all out in polonium he was out in full under armour waterproofs and undershirt and still complained he was cold!

I thinned a lovely approach into 4th on marquess, rolled all the way around the green on my third to set up a nice 2 footer for par..

Course was in great nic, marquess greens were tad slow but dukes were pretty quick! Some mental holes on dukes, a lot of 40 foot drops down the side of the fairways... Wasn't fun!!

Region3 won dukes, with 37... GJBike may have been a top 3 as well on dukes..

I think Richard Glass won NTP in the morning (he is not a forumer bu a friend of Vig's). Im pretty sure it as him as I mistakenly hit his ball in the afternoon when on neighbouring holes for a 2 shot penalty which Bratty & Gibbo found quite hilarious....

Im pretty sure Vig was 2nd or 3rd (32pts) in the afternoon, but dont mention his 6 points on the back 9 in the morning

Your opening post results was my guesses from the original thread, but I'd wait for Smiffy to confirm them as I could be wrong.

Some things I remember :

Eejit saying all his golf balls smelled of pine

Taking all the course planners and range balls that were supposed to be for the society after us!

realizing I had a hole in my sock by my big toe on the 7th hole and deciding to swap them so the hole would be by my little toe instead, but the grass was soaking wet and all I managed to to was to soak both socks instead.
......... Reached the signature par 5 hole in 2 then 3 putted!

Writing "KNOB" in orange sharpie on a ball on the 4th tee after it had bounced off 2 cart paths and landed just next to us as he was playing into the 3rd......I thought it was Smiffy's.......but to my horror it turned out to be the 7 foot giant CaptainRon's.....

Donations to HFH were mine and Region3's winnings (£50 each) 3rd place in pm (£20 from Gjbike). Rob2 also made a £100 donation on the day.

Nearly ran out of petrol on the way home.....reserve light had come on the day before and the first 5 garages I came to were sold out.........

Smiffy's uberfantastic organization skills....

Richard Glass WAS nearest the pin AND I was indeed 2nd on the Dukes with 33pts,
I also thought that the 6pts had vanished into the ether, now where's my therapist's number

Did you want the result of the epic grudge match between me and Smiffy?

With emphasis on the the brilliant fightback by Smiffy during the morning round? 4 down at the turn, looking dead and buried, but then played some of the best golf he's played for years to actually walk off the 18th 1 up!!
Now that is what you call a turnaround. It had everything. He only had 10 points after 9 holes. Went and scored 22 on the back 9 for a 32 point total, counting Homer out of 2nd spot.
Bobmac couldn't believe it. Nor could Captain Ron or RichardC their playing partners. Smiffy always knew he had it in him though. He had belief. Belief that all those hours spent honing his swing on the practice ground would reap their rewards. He held his head high despite faciing adversity. The thousands thronging the fairways couldn't believe it either. They were witnessing one of the biggest combacks in golfing history. This was matchplay at its best. Everything Bobmac tried to do, Smiffy had an answer for. Beautiful drives, crisply struck iron shots, a deft touch around the greens and a superb putting stroke saw him through. Woburn hadn't seen anything like this in years and I doubt if it would again..........

The afternoon round wasn't as good.
