Microwave ovens. Didn't win one, but they were the first prize at our pro-am one year.
I was at a club yesterday, Close House, buying a voucher for someone as a present. They had a sale on in their pro shop for GG sleeveless jumpers, £25. I would like one, it looked great but it had their name on it. I like the place, a lot as it happens, but it is not my club and it just didn't seem right to buy and wear it. Daft really.
Just found out that in playing the event I qualified for the final, which will cost another 1,000pln (£200+) to enter, there was a 400pln (I think, might even have been 500) entrance to fee for the first round, another amazing prize - Congratulations on qualifying to give us some more money!
I've never known an event (in the UK at least) where the fee for the final wasn't included in the original price, think I'll be swerving the final
Sounds like you need to read up on the prize on offer before entering events.Just came on to search if there was a thread for bad prizes, turns out I started one 7 years ago almost to the day!
Just received a voucher for 2 rounds at the Old Course at Atalaya Golf and Country Club in Spain, non-transferrable so can't even sell it on to someone who might be living or travelling over there.
So in order to get the benefit of my prize I have to travel to Malaga in the next 12 months stay at least a couple of nights at my own cost.
I'll keep the voucher just in case I find myself travelling that way but a prize of €250 worth of green fees when it will probably cost the best part of €500, flights and accommodation etc, to collect is no prize in my book.
Normally the prizes are shirts and/or balls or the equivalent, although oddly enough the guy referred to in the matchplay thread won a high end lawnmower (£1,000++) in one comp, he lives in a top floor flat, but he was able to sell it so that didn't work out too badly for him.Sounds like you need to read up on the prize on offer before entering events.![]()
