I took advantage of the glorious weather this week to play the front 9 on Tuesday after work and the back 9 yesterday, again after work.

Managed an unprecedented +7 on the front 9 which left me grinning like the proverbial Cheshire cat. Started badly on the first couple last night, including a penalty drop on the 11th (ball still hiding in the nettles!) but still managed +11 for the back 9 on another beautiful evening - finished around 7:45 and still hot in just a polo shirt!

Having only taken up the game in January, this was my first experience of both good weather and something approaching respectable golf!

Considering I usually go round in the high 90's, this was quite a leap forward - I'm hoping my new sticks arrive in time for the weekend, so will have a ready made excuse for slipping back into the 90's again without having to open the 'big book of excuses' lol

EDIT: Better add before some wag jumps in - the reason for not finding the ball in the nettles IS NOT because the polo shirt was all that I was wearing! :D

Trust me Whereditgo, you're doing really well with those scores. My first ever round......153 :D

Let's hope you can hold it together for the next 18!

Golfmmad.

I feel your pain. Played at Royal Ascot with HTL and Mattdeeks to day and went out in 22 points or +3 gross. Came back in 14 points and shot +11 on the back nine to play to handicap both stroke and medal format

Thanks for the positive comments fella's :)

The new sticks haven't arrived yet but....

Played today with a 70 y/o Irish gentleman, quite a character and really pleasant company, I shot 89 for my first ever sub 90 round including first ever birdie!! - snuck my wind assisted drive onto the front of the green on a 292 yd par four (obviously included a fair bit of roll) and two putted from there :)

I was really striking the ball well - the 18th was a 192 yd par 3 and my 6 iron pitched on the back of the green one bounce and off the back into the sand!

Maybe the new irons should stay in the shop! :D
