Or whatever it might be called now days. Played this morning (at last - whoopie) and there were a lot of worm casts on the fairways. One of our group "teed" their ball up on the worm casts if they were within 6" under lift and place. I have to say that her 3 wood shots off the worm casts were very impressive. Was she correct? Is that allowed?

Yes, but if the ball was at rest and falls off, it cannot be replaced (moved by natural forces, play it as it lies).
