Winter golf in the NE - qualifier comps

Hello all

Looking at a winter membership in the NE where there might be scope to play in qualifier comps. Dunstanburgh have a winter deal on but with no qualifier comps it's not as attractive.

Does anyone play anywhere in the region that has qualifiers through the winter?

I don't know for definite but the obvious thing to say is you probably need to be looking at some of the coastal clubs / links courses. You have left it open with regards to the area but South Shields is one to check out. It drains well and is a 12 months of the year course. If you are prepared to go to Dunstanburgh then Newbiggin could also come into it. Those are two that immediately spring to mind that have a chance of offering qualifier comps as they are not restricted by poor weather.

There may be more going down the coast but I am not familiar with them. Plenty of Durham lads on here who will hopefully help you.

Bamburgh says they run competitions(pass if qualifiers) thought the year here, amazing scenery.

Depending exactly were you are, Gullane also offer a winter membership with qualifiers on no2/3 IIRC.

Where in the North East? South Shields have regular Stableford pairs & individual competitions throughout the winter & the course is normally perfect playable even the day after a few days rain.
