winter balls?

I can't get my Adams to generate any spin. I am trying my titleists out this weekend, and will see what happens. They used to spin like crazy, so if they don't, it is my swing that has changed.

That said, I don't think the hozzel is going to generate much back spin anyway.

It's at this time of year that I start displaying squirrel-like tendencies and start stock-piling any tour-calibre balls I acquire or find for next season (don't get as many as I used to now I don't look after equipment!). Am mostly using NXT, HX Hot, AD333 and even a Dunlop Tour ball I found recently which seemed to go miles, without a totally concrete-like feel around the greens (lost it again now sadly)

I had changed to the Wilson dx2 soft a few months back and really liked playing with them, will see how they fair through the winter. If they are abit too soft will go back to the srixon distance.

Interesting that people are thinking about spin and that sort of thing in relation to winter balls... more importantly is the fact that in the winter you are colder, wrapped up and usually not swinging as hard. As a result you will not be compressing the ball to the same degree that you would in the summer. So if you are looking for a winter ball it should be something which is lower in compression or rated for a slightly slower swing in order to get the most out of it.

I tend to use NXT's in the winter instead of Pro VI's.

Summer ball "Callaway tour ix". Winter "Nike PD Soft" As Jonny says above something with a lower compression. The nike goes about the same distance as the Callaway and has a nice feel . With the soft greens you dont have to worry about stopping it.

I don't normally change ball for the winter but thinking about it this year as I'm going to need some new ones in the next few weeks.

I'm not bothered about distance or spin, but can anyone recommend a ball that feels the same of the face for chipping and putting as a ProV?

Last year (first year playing through winter) I didn't bother changing but was just using whatever I had/found anyway.

After losing 3 balls plugged from the tee last week (all just off the fairway) I've ordered some orange balls in the hope that I can spot them easier when they are plugged!!

I'm not that fussed about balls really, used all sorts and tend to get whatever is cheap. That said I've been using Callaway HX Diablo Tour and am really very impressed with them

through winter i just use the second chance prov's you can get at JJB or American golf.
no drama's if you loose any

I tend to use the old pro v's that are a bit scuffed or any decentish ball i've found that i wouldn't usually use in a competition, Like callaways or nikes and Bridgestones.

Dont use up any new premium balls in Winter I just used the ones i've managed to keep for a round or two in the Winter, or, I use a Wilson Staff DX2 soft. I find these are much better and scuff less than the AD333's and Soft feels.

Another who changes to AD333 or NXT at this time of year. I need all the help I can get off the tee being a 230 yard average driver at best and know that they will still hold if I hit the approach well. A little hot off the putter and around the green but the wet surface takes care of most of that

230 carry is a good hit, any time of year. With no roll, that's it, 230.

For the winter I use the Dunlop Tour Pro. They feel great, stop well and at £8 for 24 from Sports Direct fantastic value.
