Having played a competition after heavy rain I carried my bag but to be honest it knackered me out so I have thinned it all down.

So now bag is
Driver
3 wood - may drop for 7wood and 6iron / or just 6 iron
7- Ut in ping G430
50 degrees wedge
58 degrees sw
Putter

The 3 wood is up for removal because I played 18 the other day and the amount of usage and what is was used for has me thinking perhaps not required..

Does anyone else consider the weight and amount of use they get out of the club?

If I ever have to carry I drop 7 clubs and go half set

On Tuesday I tried cutting down to ten clubs.
Had to mix irons from different sets.

10.5° driver, 16° and 23° hybrids.
Irons were 24°, 30°, 36°, 42°, 50°, 58°

I thought that I might find myself "between clubs" on occasions with the irons.
Familiarity with my own course meant I could take a bit of distance off when I felt it necessary. I know where I want my iron shots to land and greens are very soft.
It was the longer clubs where "gaps" were more difficult to deal with.
Could have used a 3-wood on a couple of occasions due to placing on fairways giving favourable lies.
Gap between hybrids and longest iron - don't like trying to under-hit a hybrid - usually ends up a sloppy shot.

If I feel like carrying 13 next week, I might try, for the experience,

10.5° driver, 15° 3-wood, 16°, 20°, 23° hybrids
Irons 18°, 24°, 30°, 36°, 42°, 50°, 58°

Bit of an overlap with hybrid/long iron, but the trajectory is so different that it creates a choice/option type of shot.

When it becomes time to carry I usually just take about three or four clubs out to lighten the load. Usually 6, 8 & PW come out, maybe take 50 out as well or one of the woods. If I'm in between clubs with the irons then I just grip down the longer one and hopefully land it on the back of the green.

I don’t drop any clubs, just use a lighter bag and empty all the cr@p out I usually have in the bag.

I moved away from this whole carry or not bag thing ..

Got a nice titliest sta dry bag that fits a trolly . Because it's not a cart bag it makes you limit what you lug about so bag Is always ready to go

Just prefer less clubs when carrying

I have an elec trolly and a specific trolly bag, but mostly use a stand bag (which is fine on my trolly). Trolly bags go encourage you to carry the kitchen sink and when it's heavy underfoot, it gets tiring, but never so I would notice a few clubs had been taken out.

I have a pencil bag, but still stuff 14 clubs in there 🤣

If I have to carry it'll be...

Driver
6, 8, P, 56°
Putter

I hate using fairway woods and hybrids when it's wet and muddy.

I don't. Our buggies are cool with twenty-club bags.

Luckily we're still on counting rounds with placing on fairway only but expect in next 2/3 weeks to go to winter rules. Trolleys already not allowed around greens with areas roped off, was a tiny bit annoying today going long way around. So much handier being able to carry and go directly to ball.

I'll go to half set in next couple weeks:
Driver, 22 deg hybrid, 6, 8, PW, 54 wedge, putter

Next purchase is a small carry bag. I've a pencil bag at home but it will be destroyed being put directly on ground in wet and muddy weather, I'd rather something small and light but with legs

Thats when being a "knob" pays dividends:)
