No doubt some of you will remember that I've been an avid Windows Mobile HTC chap for the last 9 years, and I've been quite pleased with the HTC Touch Diamond.

However my provider, Orange, have just announced that they'll have the iphone very soon, and they're only doing one HTC phone now, the Hero or something, which I don't like.

I like the idea of a larger screen which is why I would have gone for the larger HTC HD. But seeing as Orange no longer do it!

So I'm left with Blackberry or iphone in esence.

For all the users out there. Do you rate the iphone, or prefer the Blackberry? Pros & cons of either?

Cheers.

If the question includes windows vs anything, the answer is anything.

The iPhone is a great device and Orange and Voda will have it around the end of the year.

Otherwise, I would go for the HTC Hero. Why don't you like it?

Web and email use means iPhone all the way. Check 3G coverage on the Orange, Voda and O2 websites to see which are best. All things being equal I would go for Voda. Orange customer service has a bad reputation, recently confirmed when I sent an email with a question, got an immediate automated email saying I would hear back in 48 hours. 2-3 weeks later, nada.

O2 customer service is also dodgy.

I also have a Mac (or two), so I may be biased.

I have had both (Blackberry and iPhone), I now have an iPhone and I much prefer it. When you start exploring the app store, it blows your mind. The only downsides to the iPhone are it is a bit chunky for a phone and the battery life is not great. I have just started travelling to work by train, so I dont stop using it.

Before you decide try and get a look at the Golfshot GPS app for the iPhone, 17.99 for golf course GPS for life and new courses added by the week. My home course is on there and most of the courses I plan to visit over the next couple of years here and in Ireland, but it has global coverage.

Best of luck.

What about the Samsung i8910 hapless? it uses symbian s60, a good all round phone with a cracking camera, good battery life and loads of features.

I cant tell you the amount of people that I know who have happily converted from the blackberry's, HTC, Google phones etc to Iphones and love it. I have one and wouldn't have anything else.

My pal has both, his work phone is the BB and his own is the Iphone. He swears by the Iphone!

I've got a Blackberry Curve (8900). Actually it's provided by the company, but on a all calls, web access included plan so I get total use from it. The only pain being I often check work emails during the evening or weekend when I get blitzed with notifications. A small price to pay in the scheme of things as I have free BBGPSGOLF on it.

Battery life is not too bad either.

I had an Orange SPV600, which was Windoze Mobile based, and to be frank, it was crap, no end of trouble.

I then went for a Nokia E51 with a Mail program called 'Mail for Exchange', which was also not too reliable either.
Looked at the iPhone for a while, but as it wasnt available on Orange, it wasnt an option, but to be honest, I found the touch screen a smidge fiddly for my liking, and in reality, I cant be arsed with all the Apps' etc.
I just want something reliable for calls & email on the go, and if thats the case, its Blackberry all the way.
I have the Bold and its fab to use. The Curve is slightly smaller and perhaps enough for most, same software & operation etc, but for my hands, the Bold is excellent.
So if you want 'Cool' and loads of 'Apps' to mess with, sure iPhone is the one, just make sure you can put up with the touch-screen etc.

If you want something with bombproof email reliability and great call quality, Blackberry is the king.
(You can get 'Apps' for the BB too i beleive)

It's cooler than an Aston Martin...why wouldn't you want an iPhone?

In comparison, the BlackBerry isn't even as cool as youtube. Disappointing.

I keep my iPhone in the Aston, next to the bottle of Dom Perignon.

Urm. I don't think I do 'cool'. So if it's not on that list then it's for me ;)

No Wii on the list. I have a Wii! No Rolex on the wrist either, just a Sector and a Camel Trophy. What happened to Swatch? So that's not cool then. No 501's on that list either!

I'm not really ever gonna be the Fonz!

Anyway who decides what's cool?

If you want a toy, or dress like you'd like to be in a boyband, get an iphone. If you want to be able to pull your phone out and play with it every 5 minutes, not because you need to do anything useful, but because you just want to play with it, then there's an app for that.

If you want something reliable that does everything you need, get a blackberry.

I'm considering getting an Iphone next March/April time. I will probably get it on PAYG as I'm on that at the moment.

I'm currently with O2 and will probably stay with them as Orange reception around my place of work is non-existent.

I've seen a couple of friends Blackberrys and the keys seem to small for my chunky fingers!

Iphone for me.

Rubbish. Spoken like someone who has not used an iPhone for any length of time, or possibly at all. The iPhone is a much more versatile and usable device than any of the Blackberry models. The Blackberry has been left behind now by the iPhone and other devices.

Perhaps you should have said if you want to look like a management consultant stuck in the past, get a blackberry.

Or spoken by someone who had one and asked for his Blackberry back. Can you tell me one single thing that an iphone has over the Blackberry that isn't a gimmick / toy ?
