Why why why?

Why do manufacturers insist on bringing out new drivers with these pathetic shoelace ultra lightweight shafts. I appreciate some people may need a little help to generate a baw hair more swing speed however anyone with a half decent swing speed will just struggle to control these glorified bendy straws!

I tried the RBZ today. The stock option Ozik Xcon 5 shaft launched higher than a 7 iron. What a waste of a great looking head sticking that rake of pish into it! The R11s with stock options was pretty crap as well. Not as high launching as the RBZ but it was also too bulbous when looking down on it. I genuinely don't think TM could fit me for one of their moon launching clubs even at their fitting centres.

I then tried the Yonex Ezone again with a stupid stock option shaft, snap hook after snap hook even when I slowed my swing to a dying swan it just ballooned or snap hooked.

Moved onto the beautiful new Nike offering. Great looking bat which didn't feel as light as the others however yet again its fitted with a 51g Fubuki shaft which required me to "hold back" on the swing. As soon as you tried to hit the ball the shaft just couldn't cope. Absolute utter crap from the manufacturers.

Looks as though I'll be awaiting the Ping i20 driver and hope to get to try the Corbra AMP. The 3 wood could be having a busy season I fear at this rate. Do any manufacturers make a decent bat with a decent shaft option?
 
If you wouldn't mind a callaway, the fitting centre at St Andrews is meant to be the mutts nuttz. Think they have just about every shaft available. I've been thinking about a Hawk Tour for a while :mmm:
 
after a few lessons and talking to the pro i can concur on what your saying. i didnt know anything about shafts but no a wee bit now. i know that the rbz shafts are no use for me and wont be buying tm. getting fitted the moro prob titleist. thecraw the rbz looked gud but i suspect you would have to phone the national fitting centre and ask what shafts they have. come back to the dark side
 
The genuine matrix ozik x con 5 is a nice shaft. That said, in the rbz they may have fitted the lightest version, or a made for, I don't know. When I got my 909 I was split between an x con 6 and a 5. I preferred the 6 as it is slightly heavier, but the five was fine.

What you needed was a heavier shaft in your 910. Instead of junking the club, you should have bought another shaft. £100, or less, and you are in.

I missed my planned chance on thursday night to demo the new RBZ range.
But my mate that works in the shop ( PGA Pro ) did say that the standard RBZ with standard shaft was purely for mid-high h/cap range, designed for high launch
But the RBZ TOUR driver has a far better shaft fitted, heavier, and the TOUR head gives a different flight, and is Defo worth giving it a Try

So maybe u should try out the RBZ TOUR before u dismiss it altogether.......??
Or as stated earlier........Titleist 910......??......boat loadsa shaft options there

The guy that does the fitting at St Andrews Martin Jones is a top guy, he does know his stuff ,when i went earlier he could have said i neeed any shaft but he said the Blur shaft was working well for me. Worth a try mate and a game at mine as well if you want.

The tour has a 440cc head, its also has an X-con6 shaft which is still a high launch lightweight bit of spaghetti so its not for me. The Tour TP is the exact same head as the your but code with an HD6 shaft which is lower launching.

Typical of TM they have also franced up their product launch as no fitting carts have been released yet. I think I would get away with the RBZ Tour head with a 70g Rip shaft. I need a heavier, low launching, low spinning shaft. That 70g Rip would also not even be considered an upgrade, it would be a standard option.

I've not ruled out the RBZ as its a very nice head shape. Nicer than the R11s in my opinion, or certainly to my eye it is!

In all seriousness though, I hope you find a suitable replacement… you know where I live! :p

Couldn't you try a rip shaft in a few different heads? That way you know the flight would be good, as it is what you are used too, and then you could judge the different heads equally…??

All Scott Gourlay is going to say is the same as any club fitter on the west coast. I need a low launching, low spinning stiff shaft because of the spin I put on a driver. I already know that I've had a few fittings over the years.

Its a waste of diesel and money to get told that again. I'm not being disrespectful to Mr Gourlay.
 
Yep, Totally agree, the RBZ TOUR head is a good looking driver
You could always just buy it with stock shaft, and if u look on ebay theres absolutely loads of last years R11 upgrade custom shafts for sale on there, at decent prices, as they fit the RBZ too
And yep......i cant understand either why the fitting carts arent available at the launch date of the product
