Tell me about it!!

When I was a junior I had a horrible 'power fade' that cost me distance and shots.

I then gave the game up.

When I took it up again I had a lovely draw shape.

That's gone now!! :o

I've gone back to the weak 'power fade'!!

BobMac, please help........ :)

Had the same problem myself about 3 weeks ago - had a lesson with my pro to sort it out.
If you can imagine this - put a rolled up towel on the outside of the ball about 2-3 inches behind it and a head cover (or something like that) about two inches in front of the ball (so they are diagonally opposite each other) and then practice half swings without hitting either imagining that you are aiming at 1 o'clock on a clock face so that promotes a more rounded swing - you may start hooking a few but have a couple of baskets like that and it grooves a more rounded swing.
I hope this makes sense :)

I am a firm believer that us handicappers have a pendulum like peak to our swings in that it hits extremes at each end but there is that little sweet spot in the middle where it just works for a while. Pros have the time and facilities to make this sweet area last longer but noone seems Impervious to it.

If your swing feels out of sorts, persevere and don't change too much.

I agree Brendy.
Golfers go from playing great one day and rubbish the next.
They think the swing has totally gone.
They try everything, spend hours at the range trying to get the good swing back.
Whereas in actual fact, all was required was a little tweak.
Golfers swings change very little from day to day, week to week, month to month.
This requires a new thread. :D

Certainly sounds like it Bob :D

It seems so simple but people do go to the extremes to try and combat something that could be as simple as a slight grip change or ball placement.

I Bought a two ball Oddy putter of a playing partner (it was his spare putter) and for the first 6-8 months my putting changed massively, line was so much better, only pace had to be worked on for the big putts.
Recently it went off the boil and I decided to get a big grip put onto it, I opted for a tiger shark version (not quite jumbo 2 thumb but almost). Putting was still very average-poor.
A fortnight ago I decided to experiment and go back to the left hand baseball grip, previously it was both hands index fingers pointing down the shaft. Since doing it, my 6 footers and in have changed dramatically again back to the good.
Whatever I was doing with the big grip, I was still managing to turn it over slightly and now its a lot straighter. Its amazing how much confidence if gives on decent greens.

i played tonight and i changed something very minor which was i stood a little further away from the ball about an inch and it was miles better
