Why does my driver not have a sweet spot?

It just has the grooves all along it. Its not an old club either, it was bought in 2008 as part of a complete set. It is a Slazenger HT2 460cc square head driver.

Just curious as why it wouldnt have one
Thanks

A sweetspot is the 'best place to hit the ball for the best flight', your club has a sweetspot (all clubfaces have a sweetspot) it just doesn't have a big blob of paint showing where it is... in the middle is normally a good guess.

Doesn't make much difference really. All the grooves do is channel a bit of moisture away on a wet day. The sweet spot will be in the middle, a bit above the centre line of the face. Hit it near the middle, and it will go.

Thanks for that, but is it not better to have no grooves on the sweetspot like other drivers?

This is what I always thought; Grooves will increase spin. Modern drivers don't need more spin, hence no grooves.

None of my drivers have marked sweetspots or grooves.

They stopped putting grooves on the face when the technology got good enough to make them so thin that they can't put the grooves in, or they would cut through the face.

If you're worried about sweetspots, I'd be more inclined to go for a driver that well, umm, basically ( tries to think of a way of putting it nicely ) .....

isn't a Slazenger. ( Couldn't think of one  )

If you're playing enough that driving distance is on your mind, try to find £40 - £50 to invest in a decent second hand bit of kit.
