Took young grandson up to driving range today for a roll up lesson. In the bay at the side of him was a girl and next one was along was a boy they were brother and sister. dad had taken them along.
Anyway I was talking to dad and he has polled up with the latest G series Ping driver. Heard about them on here and being the very proud owner of a G30 driver was very interested in having a look. to be quite frank I thought it looked gorgeous and felt the " balance" was just sublime. Anyway he says to me " have a go with it" I declined. We had a chat for another five mins and he tells me he works for Ping at Gainsborough and it was a freebie. Both his kids have the latest clubs on custom sized shafts. it was an enjoyable 15 mins natter. I then said sod it and asks for a go. he said no probs but could he have the first hit as it had not been christened. He bladdered one and the noise was massive. He then passed it to me. I teed it up and smashed it as straight as an arrow. It just flew of the face. The second faded slightly right and the third was just the kind of drive you hit and you stick your chest out popping the buttons on your shirt. It was massive. he explained that the shaft which looked steel was in fact a Tour shaft Stiff? The club looked and felt the business.
I have/ had no intentions of changing my G30 driver but it is my birthday in two weeks and Missis T has no idea what to get me. Flippin Eck I am tempted but and it is a massive but. When he asked me if I wanted a go.

WHY DID I NOT SAY NO.

PS, whoever designed that head cover wants sacking he must of been recruited from Dunlop it is shocking.

Think we'll put that down as a given and it'll be in the bag soon

The shaft might be the difference, not the head.

I have a G30 (SF Tec) with the silver tour stiff shaft. I love the club, easily the best driver I have had. When being fitted, I couldn't hit it well with the lighter blue shaft.

What I could not get my head around though Ken was the fact it was a stiff shaft yet my swing speed is not that quick.
But it just flew off the club face. My driver is the same ( SF Tec) but with a regular shaft the very one which ping measured me up for, so would the shaft make that much difference.

Same, I was hitting it to the moon with the standard Stiff shaft. Very unlike my normal flight. would have loved to have tried the standard X stiff but its a rare thing apparently

I'm no expert but the stiffer/heavier shaft might offer you more control.
Tour shaft is a little shorter too, I am far more likely to hit it out of the middle and not the heel with a shorter shaft. The shafts on modern drivers are too long.

Thats not cheering me up at all knowing the tour shaft probably costs a bit more as well. Wonder what I will be dreaming about tonight. Paul if the bad man in me head wins you can have a smack with it when I am oop north.

Get the G and stick the G30 headcover on it.

Nah the MCFC looks gorgeous on my driver, only bettered by moonchester head cover on my 3 wood.
think I may be browsing eBay later today when the grand sprogs have gone home.

OH AH, I forgot, whilst talking to the guy yesterday I took my eye off young grandson Tash. The guy looks over my shoulder with a look of horror on his face. I turned round and young Tash had picked up my AP1 seven iron and was on the down swing. I just shouted as he hit it out of the middle and it went 20-25 yd. I did not know whether to scream, laugh or what, after a long second me and the other guy just laughed.
it was like me hitting the ball with a 10 ft club. The toe of the club was pointing to the sky when he hit it. Flippin kids. Two eyes are not enough.

I'd be searching eBay for the shaft he had, there will be little difference between heads

As daft a question as it may seem what would be the search title

Ping G30 Tour stiff shaft. I do think I will put a bid in for the one Capella is blogging 😳

Ping tour stiff driver shaft?

Come up with a couple.

Ave just had a quick look and the shaft in my G 30 is regular. The shaft I used yesterday was Tour stiff. But there is a Tour regular on auction.
So what's the difference between Tour stiff and Tour reg,?

Whats the difference between regular ( mine) and Tour regular ?

why did I not say no. Flippin game.😠
