Golf shafts are a personal thing, just because you swing at X does not mean you need to buy shaft Y

Putting TOUR on a shaft instantly gets golfers in a lather, does not mean anything except you will be more inclined to pay extra

TOUR STIFF would normally be a flex between Stiff and X Stiff..

But it seems like TOUR is part of the name of the shaft here and is simply a marketing gimmick

I use
xx in driver and as the clubs get shorter i prefer weaker shafts, so wedges are all R flex

I also have some golf shafts sitting that are called TOUR DEEP, sticking TOUR on anything ensures golfers pay more!

The regular shafts should have equal stiffness.
The tour shaft is 10 or 15 grams heavier.
I benefit from this as I am more consistent and the shaft produces less spin.

i have recently swopped the Reg Stock Shaft out of my G30 SF Tec to a Reg Tour 80, it has made big difference, maybe its the lower torque of the shaft but feels much more controlled, and at £55 from Ping though your pro i think its good value!

The only caveat is that its a slightly short shaft which is always going to help

Ping's 'Tour Stiff' and 'Tour Reg' labels started to appear from the G25. They are not Tour shafts, so the label is simply a marketing gimmick. They are lower torque, slightly shorter and, I believe, slightly heavier. If that suits you better than the 'normal' shaft, then great - as it doesn't cost any more. There was an equivalent in the G15 that I had - and loved ' made by Aldila (the Serrano) and was in that brands colours. Ping seem to have gone the opposite way to other OEMs recently and brought shafts 'in-house', though I am sure they are supplied by one of the major manufacturers - like Aldila.

Btw. That break in the Instagram was also exactly what happened to a mate's on an earlier model (not sure which one). His was replaced foc by Ping.

Might be having a little natter in the club shop on Tuesday then because they are authorised Ping dealers. Might even let me get on the swing monitor to compare if I go down that route 👍😳

Well I have bitten the bullet and bought a tour shaft off flea bay. Just thinking my driver could end up looking like "triggers brush".

Its had a new grip on this shaft, and a new shaft on the head. but it's the same club.
Gonna rename me driver " Triggers driver"

I've been staying away from the new releases of drivers as I only just got my G30 last summer.

Took young grandson up to driving range today for a roll up lesson. In the bay at the side of him was a girl and next one was along was a boy they were brother and sister. dad had taken them along.
Anyway I was talking to dad and he has polled up with the latest G series Ping driver. Heard about them on here and being the very proud owner of a G30 driver was very interested in having a look. to be quite frank I thought it looked gorgeous and felt the " balance" was just sublime. Anyway he says to me " have a go with it" I declined. We had a chat for another five mins and he tells me he works for Ping at Gainsborough and it was a freebie. Both his kids have the latest clubs on custom sized shafts. it was an enjoyable 15 mins natter. I then said sod it and asks for a go. he said no probs but could he have the first hit as it had not been christened. He bladdered one and the noise was massive. He then passed it to me. I teed it up and smashed it as straight as an arrow. It just flew of the face. The second faded slightly right and the third was just the kind of drive you hit and you stick your chest out popping the buttons on your shirt. It was massive. he explained that the shaft which looked steel was in fact a Tour shaft Stiff? The club looked and felt the business.
I have/ had no intentions of changing my G30 driver but it is my birthday in two weeks and Missis T has no idea what to get me. Flippin Eck I am tempted but and it is a massive but. When he asked me if I wanted a go.

WHY DID I NOT SAY NO.

PS, whoever designed that head cover wants sacking he must of been recruited from Dunlop it is shocking.

Last birthday I got a pair of socks :)

Stay strong. No sod it. Get a new one. The G30 is so last year

Homer you are not helping, you are officially grounded from this forum for twenty minutes. however you do have the right to appeal to Missis T, she is in the bath and will be out in three days.
