Why are you not a Cat I player?

Just not good enough. Im hoping with practice it will happen but then there are people who play every week and never get to single figures let alone cat 1. Only started playing regularly the last 6 months but as soon as think im improving i have a stinker like today!

Ill blame my clubs for the purpose of your question though

I'll adjust this question for me ;)

Why am I not a scratch golfer, because I can't feckin putt

Simple for me, to get to Cat 1 you need to spend hours practicing unless you have incredible natural talent. I would rather spend that time having a laugh on the course with my mates. I have a limited amount of time each week that I can devote to golf so I spend that time enjoying myself on the course. If I get better, great, if not then I will continue to enjoy myself.

Only been playing a year, my pro says I am good for single figures within another year or so. I have shown the potential with recent rounds all being low 80s.

I guess only time will tell for me :D

That a 100% fair attitude, imho.

for me it's ignoring the obvious. An example is I couldn't hit a driver today until the 13th before taking my time and looking at my grip. To my utter devastation it was out of position left the clubface closed on impact and every hit was going left.

I adjusted it and hit a straight 240ish up a gentle slope.

Not enough time. I can only play once a week with no practice so I can't expect miracles.

Because I can't practice my game from 100 yards in is poor.

My putting blows hot and cold - during a round.

Plus, I talk myself out of decent scores mid round.

Other than that, I'm almost there......... ;)

Just not good enough.

How do you mean?

Just too incosistent mate. I was shooting low 80's a month or so ago. Then today i had an 11 on a par 4!!!!! Water twice and ob all on the same hole. It was the 2nd too so my scoring for the day had gone. I tried to relax and just enjoy the round with my mate but everything went belly up.

The key is consistency. We can all hit a smashing drive down the middle or hole a long putt npw and then but its doing it often that matters! That takes skill and concentration that i just dont have.

Wish i did though because even though i had a stinker today i still enjoyed it :)

If i was being honest.
1) Consistency.
2) Natural and mental ability.
3) The first 3 and a half years of playing i had mental girlfriends that didn't give me enough time for golf. lol
