I think we underestimate the importance of the President's Cup to the US & RoW teams. It may be younger than the Ryder Cup but the top names like to play in it and the golf yesterday was pretty impressive.

Devaluing one of the greatest sporting events there is! The Presidents cup and (as much as I loved him) the Seve trophy are contrived marketing exercises to boost ratings at the end of the season. If you seriously think that messing about with the Ryder cup format to make it a "world match play team event" is a good idea then in my opinion you should go and watch/play another game :rant:

Who said anything about messing with the Ryder Cup format? The "world match-play" would be in addition to it, not as a replacement, similar to the fact in football you have a "world cup" as well as the euros, or the African cup of nations. One doesn't have to replace the other or mess with the format.

Regarding the Presidents Cup and the Seve Trophy I am sure there are a few that sit on your side of the fence and believe it is nothing more than a marketing exercise, but I am also quite sure there are a few who love watching and participating in them. The great thing we have in our civilised free society is freedom of choice. Watch, don't watch the choice is yours.
