Who would come out on top?

With their best golf, who would come out on top?

  • Rory McIlroy,

  • Brookes Koepka,

  • Dustin Johnson,

  • John Rahm,

  • Scottie Scheffler,

  • Jordan Spieth

Results are only viewable after voting.
At the moment, for me, it's between Scheffler and Rahm. It's so incredibly marginal between them right now but Rahm is currently the man with the edge so I went for him. Last year it was Scheffler, 5, 6 years ago it was Koepka.

Edit, just seen post #4. I've changed my vote to Koepka. During his hot streak he was relentless in the majors, just ate the competition, couldn't be ruffled.

Of we are talking their best golf in last couple of years, it's Rahm for me.

Seems to have it all. Sheffler is akin to Spieth imo in that a lot of his wins come when the putter is hot and he holes everything, obviously a talent, but the rest of his game isn't as good imo. Ruling out the LIV guys as haven't seen them lately.

Rory, always said by commentators as the one to bear in this scenario, but for me his wedge play is a similar thing to the ousting for Spieth and Scheffler, of its on whilst he plays well it helps him stride into the distance, but isn't something I'd rely on him for.

If it’s the best they can play/have played then it’s Rory. We all know what he’s like when he’s 10 shots back on the final day, he can quite easily shoot 8/9 under and look unstoppable. Similarly, when he’s winning stuff he still looks unreal.

If it’s on recent actual form then it’s a toss up between Rahm and Sheffler, both brilliant in different ways.

Rory, everyone knows distance is king and he bombs it.
At their best all will be straight and holing the putts, Rory will be longest so he wins.

It should be Rory perhaps, but while it is close, I've got for Rahm. His short compact swing, when he's on, just seems like it can't go wrong really. Think he putts better than Rory as well. I can definitely see Rahm joining the 4 majors gang if not going to 5.

For me it's rahm

I think when playing his best he is a machine

I mean he lead a tournament with COVID didn't he?

You can get into how strong an 'era' is but for me its Rory. Hes won 2 majors with a margin of 8 shots (2011 and 2012 US Open and PGA).

Dustins 2020 masters was won by 5 shots

Brookes and Rahm have beat the field by 4, Spieth even in his record breaking masters only won by 3.

So yeah, walking away with an 8 shot victory against the best players at the biggest tournaments, and doing it twice, puts him in the front for me.

Hes also been at number one for a very much longer time than others on the list but I'd have to do some calcs to see if % of career at number 1 could seperate anyone...

If Rorys on his best then there's maybe only 15 or 20 guys that can match it
(assuming they're also i on their best)

Rahm on current form

Turns out theres not alot in it, its roughly 10 weeks at number 1 per year on tour for Rahm, Scheffler and Rory. Rory is infact slightly behind in the ratio, despite being at number 1 for 122 weeks compared to 51 for rahm and 36 for scheffler....

Playoff between Rahmbo, Sheffs and Rors for me..at their best they are.. impossible to pick.
But not by a lot from the others.

I voted Rahm, but in truth I don’t have much idea. Bottom line for me would be the one who is the most emotionally stable - and I’m now thinking that that ain’t going to be Rahm but possibly DJ. Where’s Freddie Couples when you need him…😊

I am reminded of the TV show impossible.

If they all played at their very best they would all eagle every hole at worst so it comes down to someone getting an albatross which is really a lucky shot.

Looking at the votes cast, I suspect the outcome would be different if asked on a US forum.

It would be good if asked in Australia, France, S.Africa etc, ie a more neutral location. It would be interesting to hear their perspective.
