Who uses iron head covers?

For my Mizuno JPX825 Pro first i got the neoprene covers off ebay, good but they can fall off too easy

I have just ordered the Castle Bay covers, set clear and set black

I do not want the backs of my forged heads dented as i carry and previous clubs suffered alot of clatter damage

Use them and don't care if it's considered cool or not! Had forged clubs before the Pings and thought I wouldn't need them with the Pings but one round later and could see some clatter marks so that was it. Also hate the noise they make hitting each other. Small neoprene covers with velcro which do the job nicely. Agreed the bag doesn't look as attractive as those with their battered less than shiney shineys on show but I'm all about substance over style anyhow :-)

This definitely needed a poll.

I use em, it may be a bit of a hassle and I've lost loads either down into my bag or where they've just simply fallen onto the floor and I've walked away. They're cheap enough though and do protect your heads. I like them.

People that wear beige trousers.
People that have doilies on their chairs.
People that wear their ties on the outside of their tank tops.
People that tuck their shirts into their underpants.
People that listen to the Archers.
People that keep coins in those little leather purses with a flap.
People that always treat their shoes with three coats of Scotchguard.
People that smoke pipes.
People that have bus passes.
People that drink hot milk before bed.
People that have coach holidays.

Need I go on. They are very very uncool.

Just got brand new forged irons and wedges, no headcovers though, just cant be bothered with them (and losing them all the time) and dont mind abit of bag chatter character on my clubs :)

Spot on.

Resale value? I dont buy irons to resell them, I buy them to play golf.

Ditto.

The way I look at it is if you use covers and keep your shineys shiney, in 18 months you'll look at your non-shineys and want to have shineys instead so you'll go looking for new shineys when if you kept your shineys shiney you wouldn't need to look for replacement shineys and your shineys will still be shiney long after someone else's non-shineys.

My clubs stay shiny because I wipe the cack off after each shot. They might be shiny with a few dings in 6 months time, but they will be shiny nonetheless.
I have the Michael taken out of me because of how shiny they are (even my old ones before someone says they're only a month old). I see people taken the cover off their iron to play a shot and the grooves are caked with mud. That affects your game, having a dent in the sole of your 7 iron doesn't.

Or perhaps it's just that I don't have the same pride in keeping my clubs looking like they just came off the shelf?

Somehow I don't think the use of headcovers or not will be the defining characteristic of a golfers level of "cool".

I do accept that there may well be some Golfers that have iron head covers and do not fall into the afore mentioned categories. Should this be the case then I am sure modern medicine, hypnotism or Psyco-analysis will eventually find a cure. Those of us not affected by this cruel affliction can only be thankful for being spared.

I have used them on my Mizuno's from day 1 ... clubs look as new, mostly :)

Stuff my mates who laugh, scoff and call me an old fart for using them.

I have used them for years, protects the clubs and take no time at all to take off and put on after as you are walking to and from the tee. Do you 'cool' people not have headcovers on your woods then? Or are they just to keep them warm?

Unlike my irons, my woods have a paint job and also a very thin face that dents really easily.

Unlike my woods, my irons are a big chunk of metal that demolish big lumps of mud, grass, stones, sand etc at about 80 mph.

The Current Mrs148, got me a set of Mizuno covers last Christmas. The first time i used them i lost 2 of the covers, so haven't bothered since.

Is it true that you use a electro mechanical powered device to convey your clubs rather than just not being lazy and carry them?
Silly iron covers are nothing compared to lazyitis!! ;)

D7......... HIT!!!!! :whoo:
